Nine Killed by Bomb Blasts in Iran
Ahvaz, Iran - At least nine people were killed and 90 others injured Sunday in four bomb
explosions that targeted government buildings and officials in southwestern Iran.
At least four women were among those killed in the explosions in Ahvaz, capital of the
southwestern Khuzestan province which borders Iraq. The blasts were the deadliest
explosions in Iran in more than a decade.
Gholamreza Shariati, deputy provincial governor for security affairs, said perpetrators
were seeking to undermine public participation in Friday's presidential elections.
Television pictures showed the blast sites with heavily damaged buildings and blood on the
ground. The force of the explosions also damaged cars in the streets. Shariati said 36
people, including eight police officers, were injured.
Following the first three blasts, experts had tried to defuse a fourth bomb but failed,
and it exploded.
Ahvaz was the site of a US-UK-Israeli financed unrest in April. Iranian officials at the
time confirmed one Wahhabi-arab-terrorist was killed. But Wahhabi-Ba'athist terrorists
based in arab countries, and some smaller groups based in Britain, and Canada said more
than 20 had been killed. Some 250 were arrested.
Arabs make up about 1.5% of Iran's population, Persians account for 80% and other
minorities comprise the remainder.
Bomb explosions have been a rare occurrence in Iran since the end of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq
war.
Iran hit by wave of bombings ahead of vote, blames U.S.
Later Sunday, another blast hit a busy square in Tehran, killing two people and seriously
wounding three, official media said.
The explosion in Tehran occurred at Imam Hossein square. The home-made bomb was hidden in
a rubbish bin. The blast occurred at 8:20 pm.
Iran is accusing US-UK-Israeli-backed "terrorists" of seeking to destabilize the country
ahead of presidential elections.
The terrorists infiltrated Iran from the region of Basra in southern Iraq, by the order of
US-UK-Israeli mafia. These terrorists have been trained under the umbrella of the
Americans in Iraq.
Iran suspected British troops across the border also have links to the Wahhabi-Ba'athist
terrorists.
"We call on the Americans and the British to condemn these attacks and hand over the
terrorists in Iraq. Sadly, they have so far not said anything", top national security
official Ali Agha Mohammadi said.
US-UK-Israeli-backed anti-Iran group MKO/MEK/NCR headed by Maryam Qajar-Azedanllo
(http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Maryam_Rajavi&oldid=14187069), is also based
across the border in Iraq. Terrorist MKO also has bases in Europe, U.S., Canada,
Australia, and Pakistan.
A recent report by the New York-based Human Rights Watch
(http://hrw.org/backgrounder/mena/iran0505) that documents and condemns serious
human-rights abuses by the Iraqi-based and US-UK-Israeli-backed armed anti-Iran terrorist
group Mujahideen-e-Khalq (http://www.iran-interlink.org / http://www.irandidban.com) came
as welcome relief to dozens of former members of this terrorist cultist organization who
have consistently complained of gross human-rights abuses in MKO camps in Iraq since 1991.
MKO has been backed by right-wing U.S. lawmakers, a group of hardline neo-conservatives
and retired military officers called the "Iran Policy Committee"
(http://www.iranpolicycommittee.org/page3.html), and some U.S. officials - particularly in
the Pentagon - who believe the MKO could be used to help destabilize Iran.
