Tehran, July 23, IRNA -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that arts are precious skills
granted by the God to the mankind and the artists are required to
observe sense of responsibility toward Islamic values.
In a meeting with a large number of major artists ranging from
poets, writers, painters, musicians, cinema and theatre actors, the
leader said that the artists are distiguished people thanks to their
innate skills adding that they are expected to observe certain
criteria in the form and content of their artistic works.
"When the artists observe certain criteria in the form and content
of their artistic works, they in fact respect their audience," the
leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that arts and ethics are inseparable
adding that as far as an artist respects the ethical and humanitarian
values, the theme of his/her works will bring understanding and the
standard of the work will develop.
The supreme leader drew a line between the religious artistic
works and the abstract club-oriented arts and said that the religious
arts are pursuing human prosperity and enlightening the human being in
line with the divine values and the Islamic teachings which will
remain in the domain of thought forever.
"You don't need to restrict yourselves to special religious terms
or symbols in composition of your works. Promoting humanitarian values
like justice and ethics and avoiding of common-place thinking
harmful to the human being and the community can lead to create
examples of the religious artistic works," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The leader recommended the artists to promote the aesthetic
expression to display the sacrifice of the Iranian youth in the
course of the Islamic Revolution and the eight years of (Iraq) imposed
war.
"Valuable works have been done in the field of religious and
revolutionary arts. Further endeavors should be made in this
respect," the leader said.
The leader called on the artists to avoid partisan sentiments
in producing the artistic works describing it "detrimental to arts".
The leader pointed to the U.S.-engineered 1953 military coup in
Iran and said that the press had been involved in creating the
atmosphere for the military take-over with publishing controversial
articles and caricatures and said that they misused the artists for
their illegitimate goals.
"The people expect their artists to use their artistic talents in
line with the goals of the Islamic Revolution and the country,"
the leader said.
The leader also referred to the bullying of big powers and
said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has no hostility to anyone, but,
Iran will never give up to the U.S. political pressures and its
propaganda campaign. The U.S. sees Iran's firm stand as a crime."
Prior to the leader's remarks, Minister of Culture and the Islamic
Guidance Ahmad Masjed Jamei offered a report on the qualitative and
quantitative progress of the artistic works.
He said that the Islamic culture enjoys strong potentials enough
to attract the youth.

What the heck is "ghelmAn". And why are you
conversing with Ala in _this_ newsgroup, any
reason other than wanting me to check on you
and see how you're doing? :) Azadeh, you holder
of those buttocks so dear to me, if I'm wrong, then
take Ala "the zenAye" Mohseni to your moderated
group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCI_mod

Do it! Do it if I'm wrong about anything I say. If I'm wrong
about you, about my true feelings for your buttocks. You
know I don't talk bull about these matters. About art.

Nothing is changed as far as Salman Roshdie's fate is concerned. The
fatva by Khomeyni is there forever with no one able to do anything
against it. And Roshdie will get assassinated sooner or later. You
can't
go around fingering everyone that passes by you in the streets, and
get
away with it. Pretty soon you'll end up dead. Simple.

According to the fatva, it is every Moslem person's duty to kill
Salman
Roshdie when the chance to carry it out comes up.

When are you going to assassinate "Rosh_die"?
