Mr. Sripada Rao has been the MLA for the last four of five terms. He is from
Manthini in Karimnagar. He is considered to be honest compared to all the
other CM's so far and is also the present Speaker of the Assembly.
I am sure he can do a better job than other politicians.

That is difficult to believe. I am from Karimnagar and I am hearing his name
only now. Oh well, I left India five years ago and probably I am slowly
losing touch.

PVNR is also from Manthani. I bet his closeness to PVNR has a lot more to
do with his contention for CMship than his honesty. I badly want honest
people at the top. I only wish they make it to the top on their own
strength and not on the basis of closeness to PM. Ultimately if he is
not free to act on his own his honesty is of little value and irrelevant.
I called home just now. Apparently, the two main contenders now are
Rajashekhar Reddy and Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, but there are two more days
left and a lot of scope for intrigue. The seat is still up for grabs
by anyone.

Hi Ramana:
I just checked with my friends here and they said that Mr. Sripada Rao has been
the MLA from the last 12-15 years. This is his fourth time that he won the
elections continuosly. Even though I am not Karimnagar, I worked there for
a year and I have heard people saying good things about him.
If Mr. Sripada Rao was close to PVNR, he would have become a minister in his
very first term of MLA. But people have realised his work in and around
Manthani to win this many number of times, even in the TDP wave.
Anyway we are not the ones to decide the CM. It's all upto the PM as to whom
to select(that's the way its being going on).
BTW are you related to Mr. Chandrasekhar Juvvadi who contested and lost against
Mr. Anand Rao in Karimnagar?

He could very well have become well known in the past five years after
becoming the speaker. If he is really honest and efficient as is claimed
it might be a welcome change. Though I find it hard to believe anybody
can become a CM without PVNR's approval. This is not about PVNR or
Sri Pada Rao. Sycophancy and centralised command have become a part
of Indian political culture. Remember PVNR never indulged in nepotism
even during Indira Gandhi's rule. But after becoming PM, his son
PV Rajeshwar Rao is becoming a powerful figure. I think prime ministers
turn to their sons because they don't find any trusted lieutenants. Probably
the Prime Minister's office is full of dangers and intrigue. If this is
so it is very sickening indeed.

As a matter of fact, he is a distant cousin of mine.
