Saroja gAru:
I just saw Sreeni's reply to your question/comments.
Some time ago, there was a discussion, at length, on this topic here.
Sreeni in his reply covered most of the info.

Regarding the Janapada gEya recordings:

You may contact someone at AIR Vijiyawada/Waltair/Hyderabad.
Prof. Tangirala Venkatasubbarao is a good source. There was an association at
Bangalore called "Bengalore Janapada Samiti". Under the auspicious of this association,
Sri Rallapalli Sundaram, Ghattamaraju Asvatthanarayana and Tangirala Venkatasubba
Rao did a fantastic service to Telugu Janapada Sahityam and Music. It seems,
someone sang some of those songs and AIR Bangalore may have archived those.
Rajani is the best source to contact on that.

Sri Prayaga Narasimha Sastri sang many Telugu Janapada songs. He had a fantastic
voice. They were on AIR. He was known for his humor and in many meetings,
Prayaga used to sing these Folk Songs. This is another source. Again,
one has to contact AIR.

Sri B. Subbarayan (Telugu Bhasha Samiti) recorded material which runs for
40 (forty) hours on various aspects of Janapada Songs and related art -
these were tape recorded and some were even filmed. I don't know where this one
ended.

The Tribal Cultural Research and Training Institute did a fantastic collection
of Various Janapada Songs. AIR again did an exceptional service to these
Tribal Folk Songs.

Nayani Krushnakumari, Tumati Donappa, Nedunuri Gangadharam, Chilukuri Narayanarao,
Tekumalla Kameswararao, Vinjhamuri Sita, Vinjhamuri Anasuya, Birudaraju Ramaraju,
Khandavalli Lakshmiranjanam, Sripada Gopalakrushnamurthi, RVS Sundaram, Gopalakrishna
Rao, GS Mohan, SV Jogarao, and non-Andhras like Charles Grover, MCS Boyle etc did
outstanding service to Telugu Folk SOngs.

In addition to what Sreeni mentioned, you can also look for some recent singers
singing those songs. They are also singing well. Unfortunately, they record
and sell on their own these days. Keep your eyes open in the upcoming TANA
festivals.

Also, if anyone has an old grAmaphOnu, ask them if they kept any old records.
Most of them are janapada songs - hari harI nArAyaNA, rangamellipOnAdi nArAyaNamma,
banDirA poga banDirA, cooDu pinnamA pADu pillaDU and several strIla pATalu.

Good luck.

Dear Saroja gAru:

Good morning. Sorry! In my previous reply to your original post, I did a bit
more side barring. That happens most of the times and I missed to give you
the pertinent information. I had gone through my collection of Audio and
catalogs. The following is a list of Recordings (Tapes/Records/CDs) of Telugu
Janapada Geyalu. You can get them at most of the local vendors in any big
cities in AP. You may also contact some big vendors here in US.

13) Janapada Geyalu : Chalapati Rao.
Sings excellent. I heard him singing in the last ATA conf at Houston.
He begged people to buy his casette for 5 bucks a piece.
Not many were sold. If you try to get hold of this, get it.
Contact Dr. Vanguri Chittenraju of Houston. He may still have some copies.

14) Narasimha Murthy : Janapada Ratnalu/gEyAlu.
From Hyd. Sings very well. Has released a couple of tapes.
TANA invited him a couple of times. Try to get his tapes also.

15) Contact Dr. A. Anasuyadevi, 5730 Burlinghall, Houston, Tx 77035
or 317 Bramen Dr., Hurst, TX 76054.
I don't know how far she can help you in getting any recordings.
She may have some books on sale.

16) S. Janaki recently sang some Janapada Geyalu and a casette was released.

Good Luck
