About the Artistes
Smt. RAJI GOPALAKRISHNAN: Smt. Raji hails from a musical family. She had her
initial training from her father Sri. P.V.Natarajan. She had completed a
diploma course in vocal music at Krishna Music Academy Bombay, under Sri
Krishnaswamy Bhagavathar. She had completed a two year course at
Bharathanatya Music and Arts Academy under the tutelage of Smt. Balamani, the
well known music teacher of Bombay. Presently she is undergoing advanced
training under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri T.M.Thyagarajan. She is a "A" grade
artiste with AIR and Doordharshan. She has won many awards and titles in her
brilliant career. Raji has an impressive voice and a rare command over laya
and swara. Her concerts are traditional and refined, marked by dignity and
elegance. She has earned a good name in the Middle East as a great singer and
is now making her mark in the Madras Music scene over the last few years. Her
latest achievement is getting the ‘Best Female Vocalist’ award from the
Madras Music Academy during this 1998-99 Season.
Bangalore Dr. (Kum) JYOTSNA SRIKANTIAH: As the daughter of Vidushi Ratna
Srikantiah, Jyotsna started in vocal music at the age of 6. From childhood,
her fascination for violin, influenced her to get training in violin playing
under Smt. Padma Gopalan and later on from the famous Sri R.R.Kesavamurthy.
She gave her first solo performance at the age of 10. She is a graded artiste
with AIR. Jyotsna had training in Western Classical Music under Sri
V.S.Narasimhan. She has given jugalbandhi concerts and also has accompanied
many renowned artistes. She is a recipient of music scholarship from Govt. of
Karnataka and has been awarded the ‘best violinist' award from Krishna Ghana
Sabha, Madras in 1994. She has been conferred the title ‘vadya vichakshana'
by Swami Chinmayananda. She has passed the grade examination conducted by the
Royal School of Music, London with distinction. She has performed in
East-West music encounters and has played for piano, bassoon and clarinet
concertos. Jyotsna is a medical graduate, currently pursuing a post graduate
degree in Pathology at Bangalore Medical College.
Neyveli S. SKANDASUBRAMANIAN: Sri. Skandasubramanian is a disciple of Sri R.
Krishnamoorthy and Sri Thiruvarur Bhakthavatsalam. He is a recipient of Govt.
of India scholarship. He has been awarded the ‘best mridangist' award from
Madras Music Academy, Sri Krishnaghana Sabha, The Indian Fine Arts Society
etc. He is a graded artiste with AIR. He has accompanied senior stalwarts
like Sri Balamuralikrishna, Sri OS Thyagarajan, Sri Ravikiran, Sri TV
Sankaranarayanan and others. Academically, he is a Mechanical Engineering
Diploma holder.
Directions: 1.from New York City; take GW Bridge, Lincoln /holland Tunnel to
NJ Turnpike South. Take Exit 14 to Route I-78 West. Take Exit 29 to I-287
North. On I-287 North take Exit 22A for 202/206 South. Pass 4 Traffic Lights
( approx. 3 miles) and make right onto OLD FARM Road . The temple is on the
left.
2. From Route 80: Take I-287 South to Exit 22(Pluckemin). After the exit make
a right and immediately follow the Jug handle U turn to Route 202.206 South.

3.From PA and South Jersey: Take US Route 1 north or NJ Turnpike North to
I-287 North to Route 22 West(left exit). Travel for 3 miles and take Route
202/206 north.(towards Morris town), Travel approx. 5 mile. After you pass
the Hoechst Celanese Bldg.. And one traffic light( Brown Road) make left onto
OLD FARM Road. Temple on left.
