HOSPITAL SHOOTOUT: GANGSTER AWARDED DEATH SENTENCE

Mumbai, March 28 (UNI) - Notorious gangster Subhash Singh
Thakur was awarded a death sentence by designated TADA
court judge P K Chawre today, for his involvement in the
sensational 1992 J J Hospital shootout case of 1992.
Two other accused Shamkishore Carrikaptti and Jayant
Suryarao, former president of Bhiwandi Municipal Council,
were held guilty of offences relating to the shootout
which took place on September 12, 1992, and were awarded
rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and seven years
respectively.
The trio, owing allegiance to the Dawood Ibrahim gang,
were arrested for killing rival gangster of Arun Gawli
gang, Shailesh Haldankar, and two cops and injuring five
others during a shootout in the premises of J J Hospital
as an act of revenge, on behalf of their gang leader
Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.
Six other accused in the case were granted the benefit of
doubt by Justice Chawre and acquitted. The six including
a women are Anil Amarnath Sharma, Prasad Khade, Ahmed
Mohammed Mansoori, Jai Prakashsingh Shivcharansigh alias
Bachahisingh, Jahoor Ismail Faki and a woman Mehboobi
Aziz Khan.
