Sorry for the delay. I had to struggle a lot to recollect it
from my memory. I could complete it with the help of my wife.
There could be some small mistakes. But I can assure that it is
almost 98% correct. Originally it is a folk song and later
adapted for the movie. There are slight variations in the folk
song and the movie song. I have given the movie version.

I think it is B.V.Karanth along with Girish Karnad.

is the same "padya" that was in one of the Kannada text-books. I
think it was before 8th "standard". Can anyone refresh my memory?

My great-grand father Cha. Vasudeviah adapted this folklore song and wrote it in the first Kannada nursery book called Bhala Bhode. His son wrote a biography on him about 1960. There is lvery little information online about him and would appreciate if any scholar can throw more light. thanks.
