Since I am embarassed about not knowing the director of "beLLi mODa", how
about compiling a list of Puttanna kanagal movies (in chronological
order).
I only know about the 4 below
beLLi mODa
gejje pUje
ranganAyaki
mAnasa sarOvara
What about sharapanjara?
Please add to the list. It would be good to include the year of release so
as to see how his style changed with time.
Cheers

Phalithansha
Sakshathkara(?)
Sharapanjara
Katha Sangama
Amrutha galige
Runamukthalu (this is quite recent movie staring Bharathi and Padmavasanthi
and Ma. Hirannaiah based on the novel by M K Indira (?))
Between 'mAnasa sarOvara' and 'Runamukthalu', he directed on more movie which
had this song 'Gelathi oh Gelathi, appiko enna appiko Balella nanna thabbiko'.
the story revolves around three pairs of lovers. The song itself was initially
penned for 'mAnasa sarOvara'.

A question: Was there a film of Puttana called
"Dharma----" in the late 70s? (Dharma Asare? Dharma Sere?)
Note: I am not sure of the order of release for films of
a given year. I remember reading somewhere, long ago, that
Puttanna's directrial debut was with a Malayalam film, perhaps
"Poocha Kanni." This film itself is interesting, because it
is based on Malayalam translation of Triveni's "Bekkina Kannu."
I am not sure if the novel has been into a Kannada film.
Another Kannada novel that became a major hit in Malayalam
and became a film is Niranjana's "Chirasmarane." In the same
vein, it is interesting to note that Tha. Raa. Su.'s
"Hamsa Geethe" came to the Hindi screen (as "Basant Bahar")
nearly two decades earlier than it did in Kannada!

Yes, It was "dharma sere" Sometime between 78 - 80.
It is based on J.b. Joshi's novel by the same name.
