I doubt it. It is just a coincidence. Patel was a term that came
into use early in this century. A Kanbi (sharecropper) became a
Patidar, if he had land.

'Levu' & 'Karad' are two towns very nearby to each other somewhere in
the Gujaranwala district (now in Pakistan). And that Leuva & Kadva
Patidars happen to be coming from there.
I don't know much more & whether this is true or not -- but just
a thought.
Cordially,
Prakash J. Patel

There is an inscription of the Maitraka kings of Valabhi mentioning
a Kautumbika i.e. Kunbi. The term simply implies a farmer
(not necessarily a sharecropper).
There is a traditional account mentioning their origin from the vicinity
of a village 5 kos south of Siddhapur. It is said that the two
communities
were created by Lav and Kush (sons of Lord Ram). However it is much
more likely that that the names are derived from the names of specific
villages or regions.
