Actually sonal is very much a gujarati name and it is my sister's name.
It means somebody who is made of gold or somebody who is preciaous than
gold. You will also come across Rupal which is the same thing for silver.

Its meaning is "pertaining to gold", much like "Anal" is "pertaining
to , well, you know..."

Yes, I have a relative of that name. I presume it is based on "gold" (sonu)
but I could be way off the mark.

Well I heard that "Sona" is Gold in Hindi,

and "Sonia" is Beautiful in Punjabi,

so are you saying "Sonal" is "Gold" in

Gujarati?...also, do most Gujaratis recognize

"Sonal" as a very Gujarati name?

thanks..

Hi,

Could someone tell me if "Vibha" is a Gujarati name? If so could you
please tell me what it means? Where it originated. I do know that it
is a very rare name.

Thank you so very much.

Whereever there is a SONAL .. there is a RUPAL.. or SONA ROOPA jodi..

Of course Sonal means Suvarnavanti.. Like a GOLD..

Don't know whether it is a pure gujrati name or not.. but there are
plenty of GUJU Sonal arounds... although I haven't found one yet for
me..(just kidding)...

I haven't heard it, but I would guess it could be Marathi also. Sorry,
I didn't have the choice of Sanskrit at school so I can't translate.
