I know most of you are well behaved, but there are some country
bumpkins out there. Here are some guidelines to a proper behaviour.

1) Always leave around 15% tip in restaurants, haircut, pizza delivery
etc.
2) Use body deodarants and Perfumes
3) Do not wear white socks with dress pants.
4) Do not wear sneakers ( Tennis Shoes) with dress pants. They go with
Jeans and shorts only.
5) 'Could please' is not a polite way of asking someone. Instead the
sentence should start with 'Would you please'.
6) When Americans say ' I like that dress', it does not mean they
really like it, they are indicating that it is different and not
necessarily like it.
7) Don't try to bore americans with stories of how great our culture
is. They consider they are better than anybody and all other cultures
are inferior. They consider our culture male dominant and under
developed.
8) When you go to shopping mall or movies with your wife, walk along
with her, do not walk way infront of her. These guys think that we make
our wives walk behind us.
9) Do not demand any service always request. ( I know in India we
always demand )
10) Do not stare at others, that indicates that you are a country
bumpkin.
11) Do not touch any food with hands unless you are going to eat it.
When you are serving others use napkins to hold the food so that dirt
on your hands do not get on the food.
12) Before you go for a haircut, wash your hair first, otherwise the
dandruff and dust in your hair can be disgusting to the stylist. Also
wear perfumes, because they get close to you to cut your hair and you
can be smelly. ( Back in India, hair stylists smell worse than you do,
so no problem there.)
13) Do not wear your dress more than one time with out a wash. It makes
you smell bad.
14) Always have a smiling face. Having a serious look makes you look
like those criminals on the 'Americas Most Wanted'.
15) Once in a while trim your nose hair and shave under arms.
16) Ladies - Please shave your legs and underarms regulary.
17) Make sure you say 'Thank you' every time and act like you realy
mean it.

18) Don't wear sari or dhoti unless you are going to a toga party. :)
19) Don't wear that red dot in the forehead unless your kids are
practicing darts. :)
20) Don't wear one piece swimming suit with flaps unless you are
pregnant.:)
21) Lose some of those fat. Obesity is not a sign of prosperity in US.
:)
22) Invest in "Hooked on Phonics".:)
23) Get into the habit of calling folks by their first names. Don't use
Sir or Madam with colleagues.:)

damn... does it include staring at woman's breasts? Or does
that fall under being "crude"?

Yet another ABCD showing his indifference to Desis!!! Let me tell you
that no matter how much you try to imitate Americans, no matter how
hard you try to fit in with them you will never be accepted for
anything more than who you really are. And what do you know about India
and its people to make such demeaning remarks? What you've written is
total generalization and plain nonsense. And another thing - think for
yourself, don't copy and imitate others all the time...be an
individual!!
