Thanks to Raymond for doing a review for Lau Man Kuen's CD. I am the
biggest Paradox as well a Lau Man Kuen's fan. I am so excited to see that
she finally has her CD out after almost a year and a half since the last
albumn,"Blue". Even though she never became so popular(since she belongs to a small company), most of her songs are of high quality. Songs like "Autumn in my
Heart", "Bus Stop 8:08", and "Two Pieces of Clouds" are excellent, both in lyrics and arrangements. However, her songs never became so popular, even a really well written song "Snowy" which is a cover version song from
Muyuki Nagajima. It is kind of sad to see that a creatve
artist like Yvonne got so left out while the people like the so-called 4-Sky
King and Sky Queen or even Vivian Chow and Vivian Lai getting so popular.
Most of these people's albumn are filled with commerical, meaningless, and and boring love songs. It seems to me that people nowadays do not really
care if the songs they listen to really makes sense. All they want is to
see pretty faces even if the person cannot sing. I think this trend is
what killing the Hong Kong Music Industry. And that's why we keep
hearing garage love songs keep coming out and not many people ever complait
about it.

It's great to know that there are still Paradox's fans out there!

I thought I was the loner for a long time.

No way! I'm a Paradox fan also. I'm sorry to see that so much rubbish
(4-sky kings, Vivian, etc.) got so popular in HK music scene, while
those who really deserve a position don't get recognized.

I actualy know of a few more Paradox "fan"--mysef included. (And
one of SCHK's old timers, Chainsaw, is also another one).

I appreciate the group for composing all their lyrics. It makes you feel
good to know that they know what they are singing--and mean it when
they sing it. (Sometimes I could not understand why people would toss
in mumble-jumble in their lyrics... yet these mumble-jumbles are the ones
which get sung the most).

However, I wouldn't necessarily put those two ladies' singing skills above
some of the more "popular" singers. I don't mean to contradict my own
argument--I like listening to Paradox very much. Nonetheless, have you
heard they sing (live) before? well... let me just say I wont naively believe
they are better singers than some other ones out there.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelvin

In my opinion, Paradox seems to be HK's first alternative music group.
Some people say that DAT MING and Radas are also alternative groups. I
don't think so, however. Any opinion?

I agree. May be the problem is because of our poor education system. I
mean at HK. Our system do not teach the students how to think.
Therefore the students at HK can not judge. Also, in my opinion, the
public media at HK also have some responsibility for this. They are only
considering how to earn more money and they are killing our next
generations.

I agree that they aren't really the best singers in the world. But I like
them because (like someone said before) because they write their own lyrics!
So they know what they are singing and really put their own feelings into
the songs. And they will really enjoy the songs, because they probably
wrote something they have feelings about, not just anything.

Is Yvonne still writing the lyrics of her own songs?

Glad to hear that there are still some Paradox's fans out there!I like Paradox so much ,especially Lau Man Kuen because she can write her own lyrics and she sings pretty well too.Do you guys still remember the songs "Tin San Ya Dwui"(Perfect Pair) and "Cup Wan Dou Di Shun"(The letter for the sky). Those two are the best songs I never heard before. She is a great creative artist. In fact,it is hard for us to find some creative artist in Hongkong.Anthony Lun,Ah Lam,Chris Wong,Beyond and Lau Man Kuen are t
he only creative artists in Hongkong.Did I miss any other creative artists in Hongkong?

I think I am not a fans of Paradox but I do like her images and
also here songs. I do hope that she can deserve a position and
hope there exist such kind of actress in Hong Kong or hong kong
will be only a music market but no music platform as what Wong
Ka Kui (Ex-main-singer of Beyond) say before he died.

Keep on working, Yvonne and your work will be shown!

it is great. there are so many people enjoy yvonne or paradox's music.
well, as you know erica (lee man) is toronto right. she is study jouralism in
ruerson polytechnic university. my heart is broken by yvonne's new cd.
all songs are similar to 4-sky-king or quees's love song. her song is very
commerical. also, 4 songs are not orginal written for yvonne. 2 song's lyrics
not are from yvonne. it is not good.
on the other hand, melay of songs are ok. i still like this cd very
much.

one of paradox and yvonne's fan!
