Barbara Yung Mei Ling has supposedly died about 7-10 years ago. Rumours
suggested that she committed suicide because of her rejected love to Tong
Jun Yip(?), the guy who starred as Kiu Fong in TVB's Tin Long Bat Bo!!!!!

I still can't believe it. I'm in a state of denial even after so long...
She will always live in my mind.

Yep, that's exactly what happened. She gased herself at home. Lucky
nobody was smoking or sparks etc. I suspect she didn't want to actually
want to die from the attempt but nobody went around to save her in time.
She lived pretty close to TVB. Very sad loss I must say. Very talented
person indeed.

It was reported that she committed suicide by gassing herself at home.
Some say that she may have changed her mind but could not get away in
time as they found her in a position that seems to suggest that she was
trying to get out of the kitchen. As to why she committed suicide in the
first place I do not know for sure but it seem to have been due to some
relationship problems/friction between her, her boyfriend (Ken Tong Chun
Yip), Miu Kiu Wai, Chik Mei Chen (now Miu's wife) and Ng Kuan Yu.

Anyway, that's all I know or have heard. Whether they are totally true
or not will remain unsolved. It was indeed a sad moment in the
entertainment circle. She was a fine actress and it was such a waste of
have a life end like that. She will always be in our memories for ever.

yep, the story after the incident was that she thought (i don't know if
it's true or not) that her boyfriend tong jun yip was having an affair
with ng gwan yu. when these rumors were circulating after barbara's
death, she strongly denied any having resonsibility for barbara's suicide.
as to whether or not there were other problems in her relationship, i
don't know...

Barbara was probably most famous in "The legend of the condor heroes"
along with Felix wong yat wah. She died in April of 1985. Newspapers
stated her death as sucide.

I heard her death was a freak accident, and was a result of a love triangle.
She was trying to fake her suicide to get the guy's attention, but
somehow it didn't work out.
Probably just a rumor.

She was Miss HK at one stage. And then she went into acting in which she
did a superb job. A very gifted person. She was very popular on the TV
scene and very famous for her role as Wong Yung in the Sair Diew ying
hoong juen series (condor hero) in the '80's. Other shows she was in were
say...'garp-sum-yun' with Cheng siew chau, which was a modern setting
show, and kung fu show called 'kuet jin yin mo muen' etc.......

She is also one of my favourite actress ...not only because she was extremely
talented but she was also quite beautiful...unlike some other these other
miss hongkong become actresses. Her personal life isn't that clear to me
but she highly likely did a suicide attempt in which she didn't want to
die (she probably wanted Tong Jun Yip her boyfriend to come in and find
and save her....and have pity or something so that their relationship
could come back together). But Tong Jun yip didn't know about this of
course (and he was also having an affair with this other personality) so
she died of gas poisoning at home near TVB.

It doesn't matter... No contest. Her ability and gift transcends above
any of the others. In my mind she's still the best.

She's always my fave and the best *Wong Yong* in The Condor Heroes! I
think it's her first one (if I'm not wrong), and how everyone criticize
her acting ability even b4 they watch the show!!! Comparing her with
Michelle (also as Wong Yong in the very first version of the book), just
like what they did to the latest version of the show.....compare Chu Yan
with the late Barbara Yung.

Although I haven't seen the first version by Michelle but Barbara was
great in that role as Wong Yong........she's so natural as if she's Wong
Yong herself in real life! She was also in the serial called "Cheung Tin
Sze" (sp?) with Miu Qiu Wai and whenever I heard of the theme song from
that serial "誰可改變" by Alan Tam.......always remind me of her and the
lyrics is like about her and her life!!

although that's the first thing i saw her in, i know it's not her first
series. i vaguely remember watching a show(k-100 or something) where they
said her first or early roles included some gu jong series where she
played a princess or something. sorry but i can't remember the title of
it.
