I cannot help in wondering why Vivien Chow seems to have stained
teeth? I've heard that she's a smoker , is it true? What happened to
the official homepage of Vivien?

naturally have a yellow tinge to it :)

Whether someone smokes or not is up to them. They know the possible
consequences but just ignore it. It's only at the end when something
happens that they begin to regret it.
I don't know if she smokes, but you can see that a lot of singers and
stars in HK do smoke. Definitely not good for health in the long run for
most of them - that's for sure.

Actually, in a report about her, she said that her teeth is like that because
when she was young, she had a lot of this kind of medicine which affected her
teeth color. I don't if that's true, but I don't think she smokes. Where did
you get the idea of her smoking? I have been her fan for soooooo long and I
haven't heard anything about that.

I saw Vivian Chow in Hong Kong a few year ago in a "Cleaning Hong
Kong" mini concert in Clear Water Bay. After her performance was over,
she walked around and shaked hand with the audiences. I noticed that
her teeth are yellowish. That is for sure. However, does it mean that
people have yellowish teeth are smokers? Non-smokers also have
yellowish teeth. Don't believe, pay attention to anyone who is around
you.

Yes. According to my dentist, if you take some sort of anti-biotics called
"tetracycline" or a type of tetracycline during the time you develop adult
teeth, your teeth would turn out brown or yellowish. So, it's entirely
possible that a non-smoker and non-coffee drinker to get yellow teeth.

YEH,I also get a mouthful of ugly colored teeth, But I am never a smoker.
I was affected by certain kinds of medicine I took when I was still a boy.
They don't look too bad as long as I keep my mouth closed.

Yes, tetracycline in prescriptive dosages given during the time of the
developing permanent tooth buds (the precursors of the teeth before they
have erupted) will cause intrinsic permanent stains. Because these stains
are deeply imbedded in the enamel mineral matrix of the teeth, they are
hard to get rid of by bleaching. As the resident dentist on this newsgroup
I'd recommend Viv get all her anterior teeth either bonded with
composites, or veneers. I'd be more than happy to do them for her. :)

could the reason be something like what happened with vietnamese people?
i remember reading in soc.culture.vietnamese that the reason a lot of
the young vietnamese adults today have black in parts of their teeth
is because of some medication they took while in viet nam. i don't know
the scientific worth of this information, but no one seemed to contest
it in scv.
perhaps there is also something that is used in hong kong to explain why
a lot of the actors/actresses have yellow teeth (in addition to smoking)

Yes, even Vivian Chow's teeth are worthy of a mention here. Actually
when she sings sometimes....the way that her teeth show a bit (like a rabbit or
something) is really nice. Don't take this as weird thinking
folks...it's just something you notice - so just being clear about this.

you can see very clearly on television... but if you don't have access
to chinese channels... then you can even see it in some of her
pictures..
one of them are very ovbivious... i think it's in 'a little more love"
