Chong Toua Vang of Fresno, California, received some of the goblin's hair to
sell for spiritual cures in America. He said they are good in chasing other
goblins away. "Yog tus neeg mob ces koj muab tso plhuav rau nws ib qho twg
xwb ces poj ntxoog ua kiag rau tus neeg ntawv cem yus tiag. Ces tsis ntev xwb
ces zoo lawm. Lawv hais tias cov plaub no coj los hem poj ntxoog no os."
Normally, such beings cannot be caught because of their versatility. They
can slip through the tiniest hole on a wooden or bamboo wall, Vang added.
You see them at one second and you do not see them again the next. If you
chase them and they have jumped into the wood, you will not be able to find
them again, no matter how fast you are or how quickly you get to the place
where they have disappeared into.
"Thiab yog yus ntes tau mas yus yuav tsum tsis txhob hloov tes," Vang added.
"Thaum twg yus hloov tes kiag ces dim kiag lawm li xab ntag hos."
Goblins, often considered mythical, are capable of taking human spirits and
if they are with wild canines such as tigers or other jungle killing beasts,
they can protect such beings from being seen during hunts on humans. It is
for their elusiveness and versatility as such that people have not had real
proofs of their existence--and hence, they are mythical. But they do exist,
said Vang.
The hair is black and has similar textures to those of a cat's hair. But he
said they are not really like cat hair, either--a bit softer and finer.
"Tos peb paub tias tus no yog poj ntxoog no os, nws cov plaub txawv tshaj
txhua yam tsiaj tej plaub li," he said. "Hos nws ob lub qhov muag mas tsis
tav li txhua yam tsiaj los yog tej miv thiab aub li. Nws ob lub qhov muag
ntxug ntxug lug, me me kawg."
The goblin was caught on a daylight when it was wandering around by a Hmong's
house. A dog was nearby and managed to kill the goblin almost instantly when
it pounded on the mythical being. The head of the house was not sure what
kind of being it was because he never saw it before. To him, it sort of look
like a cat, according to Vang. He then threw the dead body into a nearby
trash area (like dumpster in America). But later he described it to his elder
brother who told him that elders and more knowing people have said that such
beings were goblins.
The male siblings retrieved it back and tore its skin off and kept the hair
for medincial purposes. Vang sells what he has of the goblin's hair with the
rest of his other herbs. About $20.00 per tiny bunch.
Vang would not reveal who the relatives in Thailand are. He believes that
that that day the goblin was searching for opportunities to court a human
spirit in his relatives' home but that the family was fortunate enough to
have owned a dog.

Of course, I also believe in the "seeing is believing" thing, but if so many
people believe it, I think there is something about it.
