Dear friends,

Please find the English version as follow:

MOFA-Laos’ Spokesman refutes false news on arrest in Laos
Mr. Khenthong Nouanthasinh, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Lao PDR, on 6 November 2009, refuted a news dispatched by
the Lao Section of Radio Asia on 3 November 2009, which claimed that
there were massive arrest of population in Vientiane capital,
Bolikhamxay and Vientiane provinces who were involved in an attempt of
mass protest.
Mr. Khenthong said that this news was baseless and a fabrication of
ill-intended elements who aimed at destroying the good image of Lao
PDR which is in the process of celebrating the 34th anniversary of the
proclamation of the Lao PDR and in the hosting of 25th SEA-Games in
December 2009 in Vientiane capital.

Yong, why doesn't Mr. Khenthong Nouanthasinh just do as you did when
you were in his position, and post his official government responses
as the next internet junkie to take your place?

Why do you still play your old role as the Lao spokesperson for the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, even when you are now the Ambassador to
the U.N.?

But, that's okay, I guess you already officially responded on Mr.
Khengthong and the Lao PDR's behalf:

"it is the same liars such as Philip Smith, Vannida Thepsouvanh and
their henchmen who dream of conducting sabotages to torpedoe our SEA
Game but they failed and spead this intoxication."

I wonder if Yong will have the guts to tell the U.S. Ambassador the
U.N., his collegue Dr. Susan Rice the same thing.

Mr. Puane, you miss the interpretation of the news. you want to
defend the LPDR but you didn't understand what it said.
How could there be any pictures when the news said those people were
arrested before they were even staging the protest. The news said
they were arrested while they are on the bus going to Vientiane to
stage a protest. Either they were accused of GOING to protest or they
really were GOING to but got intercepted first.

Dr. Pao, since you met with Mr. Khenthong Nouanthasinh personally at
his residence, perhaps you can share with the international community
the real story behind all the Lao PDR denials and propaganda on the
world stage, as presented by DKJ and Yong. After all, Mr. Khenthong
Nouanthasinh is the official Lao spokesperson, and you are his best
friend.

Hi all,

I left Laos on 31st October 2009, so I have no information about those
planned demonstrations and alleged arrest.

As I have posted before in response to Yong, there is an obvious and
visible sudden increase in security in Vientiane, with soldiers
patrolling the Morning Market and Thatluang during the last week of my
stay in Vientiane. Every one can see that because it is quite obvious
something new on the scene.

Life seems to go on normally though... but one interesting thing is as
I have posted earlier, we were told that we could not take photo when
we visited Dongdok (on my last afternoon in Vientiane) and the guards
were quite serious that we would be detained for taking photo without
permission. Our driver told us later that the guards were doing their
job because they were cautious about bad people may try to sabotage
the SEA Game. But I left Vientiane the next morning so I have no
information about what the driver was saying and the reason behind the
action of the Dongdok guards or the demonstrations & arrest ect....

ai yai Rambo and James Bond maybe American heroes, but to the rest of
the world, they are self-centered, self-rightous, manipulative, my way
or no way bullies. I enjoy watching Rambo and James Bond movies also,
but the fantasy stops when the movie ends. In the real world, we must
push for peace and reconciliation.
