I am looking for memorabilia (sp?) or info about a very old show called
Kiekiada or Kiekiada 01 (Zero-one). It was a Japanese action hero show
dubbed in english and I believe it used to play during the Checkers and
Pogo show (I'm not sure). I was wondering if there are any webpages
around that pay homage to this trumpet wielding action hero. 01 played
the guitar.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

try

http://www.cyber-hawaii.com/%7Ecokumoto/kikaida/

it's a really good page. there's even some downloadable quiktime videos
of parts of the show.

There's also a page from northern Cal that sells some memrobelia. Don't
remember the URL but I believe that it was called Hanabata Days... Found
it by doing a search on Kikaida.

If you had a son, wouldn't Kikaida be a good middle name?
Like Cory "Kikaidaa" Keliikane
or
Sunny "Kikaidaa" Moniz
or something..?
Maybe I better put down the batu pipe.

Omigosh!

I just got back from a trip in which a famous and unnamed Hawaiian
sovereignty figure kept the camp in stitches by singing the Kikaidaa
theme song in perfect Japanese, then imitating the evil laugh of
Professor Gill, playing his magic flute that made Jiro clutch his head
in pain!
Switch on! Change-ee!
It was hilarious, moreso at altitude in the subalpine cold of the Big
Island...
try a search for "kikaidaa" and see what you get.
Better still, I'll do a search too and report back...
Other Kikaidaa fans, please join in.
Wasn't there a "Blue Buffalo" character, sent to destroy Kikaidaa?
Every week there was a different evil character some sort of animal and
with a distinctive color... Or am I remembering a different Japanese
show, like Rainbow Man?

Was this a cartoon? If so then I think I remember it.

Give me more details so I can try to remember it.

Paul.....the show's name was Kikaida and Kikaida 01. It was not shown
during the Checkers and Pogo show. It was shown on the Japanese station at
the time, channel 13 (KIKU). It was just one of many of those type of
shows. Other favorites for kids like me at the time was Rainbow Man,
Diamond Eye, and Zaboga. There are a few people that have some of the
action figures from the show such as Hakaida, which was an enemy of
Kikaida. Also, Jiro who became Kikaida played the guitar and Kikaida 01
played the trumpet. Oops, I almost forgot my favroite
show........Karmenraida V3.

Hmmmm. Maybe Kamen Rider? 8) I only know of these shows cause of my

Kaze Kozo was not a cartoon but a live action TV drama series in
Japanese with English subtitles. I believe it ran in the late 50s or
early 60s on Channel 13, KTRG. The hero of the samurai era show was a
little boy (kozo) who was given the power to summon the wind (kaze)
god whenever someone was in trouble. He would do this by waving a
magic ball in the air. There was a catchy theme song in Japanese that
we used to sing. I've been trying to find videos of the show in Japan
without success. I also at one time had the theme song on record but I
guess it got thrown out years ago. I'm looking for that too.

There was Kikaida, Kikaida 01, Rainbow Man, and Karmen Rider V3 that I can remember
on KHNL. We use to race over to the neighbors to watch it. I met the guy that
played Karmen Rider V3 when they came to the Blaisedell (then HIC). I still have the
picture of me with him. UGH.......

The Power Rangers remind me of them. Maybe they'll be on tv again.
