This is not a paid testimonial. I am a customer and I like how I am

So it's true that moderators of SCH are allowed to ignore their own rules
against advertising as found at http://www.lava.net/~sch/new.txt :
"SOC.CULTURE.HAWAII POSTING GUIDELINES
5. ADVERTISING (newly revised, 1/99): Read the following carefully:The
following WILL NOT be approved:
b. Announcements by commercial promotions or advertisements of productsand
services that are not related to the topics of Hawaiian and localculture(i.e.,
Longs Drugs, Safeway, 7-11, McDonald's, Sam's Club, housecleaning, Internet
service, web design company)"
We all know that Michael works for LavaNet and so since there are other LavaNet
members here who are not employees it would probably be more appropriate for
them to suggest than company instead of an employee, right? I wouldn't want
anyone to think there's a double standard for moderators. ;-)
To clarify, Michael can reply to an inquiry. Jerry asked, Michael answered,
that's all.
What you've quoted are the Advertising rules for PA (fka: PSA) tags. Yes,
advertising LavaNet does not qualify for unsolicited PA tagged
announcements, but that's not what this is.

That an employee replied to the inquiry and others did not, is not an issue,
anybody can reply. And although he's a moderator, he didn't approve his
own submittal, I did.
Sharon (btw, also a Lavanet user, and if you want to know why, you can ask.)

What do you mean?
A "Time Limit"?
Or an "Inactivity Timeout"?
If the latter, there are ways of dealing with that....
If you're careful.

They disconnect me if they sense no activity. Lately, I seem to get
disconnected well within the time limit they said they allowed. That is
very annoyoing. I am willing to bet that before I write this and try to
send it, I will be disconnected again. I understand the need to minimize
the phone charges, but it would seem to me they should allow a person to
decide how much time they need. I would be willing to pay a higher monthly
charge to stay on line a little longer.

Relax and save your money. Your own operating system is kicking you off.
Assuming you're using Win98,
Click Start button/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options/
Connections tab/Settings button/Advanced button
and adjust the statement "Disconnect if idle for [ ] minutes".
The procedure is similar for other Msft os's.

I recently purchased a laptop with Windows ME. You can also disable your
"time-out" settings from your browser. Go to...
Tools---Internet Options---Connections tab---Settings---Properties---Dialing
tab---Un-check "Enable Idle Disconnect".

That means "The procedure is similar for other Microsoft
operating systems."

I'll second that -- I've been with Maui Gateway for just under a year and
have had no problems whatever.
