While plying the aisles of the New Products and Food Show this afternoon,
I could not help but notice the Costco lady at the Costco Booth. You know
the one... the middle-aged Japanee lady with glasses, the one with the
gregarious personality... the one who plugs new products for Costco. The
one that says... "It so good... it's gonna make you go YEEEE-HAAAW!!! <g>
Hoy! She was all over the exhibition hall and arena! Everyplace we went
we could her her say... "It so good... it's gonna make you go YEEEE-HAAAWW!!!
Funny, no dat lady? <g>

Shucks, Nathan! How'd I miss you? Never could find "Malamapono" either,
but saw MJW in the isolation booth.

For the longest I couldn't figure out why the heck everyone was talking
about coming out of there so stuffed, what good food, etc., etc. On'y
thing I found to eat was the muffins at that "yeeeeeee-hawwww" Costco
booth. THEN I went across to the arena! Ho! Any kine snacks nowdays,
yeah?

And didn't you love those Maui guys samba-ing in unison, like Mexican
Temptations, while making those yummy quesadillas?

Darren---you must've been at the Costco booth while the "YEEEEEEEE-HAAAWW"
lady was over there dancing Samba with the Maui Mexican Tortilla gang!
Must've been the highlight of the entire show!

So uncharactistically Japanese, even southern Japanese, too. Must have
been part of the script. I'm glad I missed it. There are untold
advantages to staying in Pearl City.

"FYI, the Costco Lady you folks are talking about is a landmark
attraction at the Costco in Hawaii Kai. She's been written up in

Yes, indeed Rick, she is a known "local" personality. Her name
is Auntie Ella Makio. As quoted in an article written a year ago
by Noelani Kimura for Honolulu Magazine, she said, " I get one
loud mouth. That's why my boss puts me in the back corner by
all the air-conditioned vents. But I step beyond that sound barrier
and I just give 'em."

" . . people go to Auntie Ella's table not only to try the free food
samples, but also to watch her perform . . ."

Auntie Ella says she won't go shopping by herself anymore . . .
"I have to make my daughter come with me . . . I was walking
past this guy in Liberty House and as soon as I passed him, he
yelled, "Yee haw!" . . . everywhere I go it happens. I can hear them
whispering, "Eh! That's the Costco lady or that's the yee-haw lady!
But to me Costco is the happiest place to be."

(I definitely think N.Y. is now a devoted member of her fan club!) gg
