Recently the CRAZY "Greek" - Foreign Affairs Minister of HellAss, Europe's
financial basket case, came out with the most ABSURD/CRAZY statement: "Every
"Greek" is born and dies as a Macedonian", making HellAss the only country
in the universe, where its citizens have dual ethnos.

In the '90's two Macedonians from the HellAss-occupied part of Macedonia
were "rewarded" with prison sentences, as well as hefty monetary fines for
basically making a similar statement as the CRAZY "Greek", in a HellAss
newspaper, i.e.. that they too are born and will die as Macedonians.

I have a question for the "Crazy Greek" and those like him: - Since not all
citizens in HellAss are born/die as "Greeks", why doesn't HellAss change its
name to Macedonia?

He, he, he... Crazy "Greeks", the laughing stock of the world.

Of course they are - they are also Athenians and Spartans, heirs of
Pericles and Leonidas - what is the deal?

WineJar, this is a correct statement. In Greece there are
Peloponnesians, Roumeliots, Thessalians, Epirots, Thracians, Kretans,
Islanders etc, etc, with each territory very protective of its
identity, its specific culture, its folklore, and its history. So,
why would this surprise you? Why would it surprise you that there are
2.5 million Macedonians in Greece? What? Did you corner the market
in "Macedonians"?

What kind of stupid statement is this? Not all Greeks are
Macedonians, of course. About 20% of them are. And the province is,
indeed, called Macedonia.

Wake up and shake that head. It may start working!!

The "deal" is that the crazy FM of HellAss states that EVERY Greek is (born
and dies as) a Macedonian. For a learned person your comprehension is
abysmal.

WineJar, this is a correct statement.

Stay away from the wine jar, nitwit and maybe then you can see/comprehend
what I have written. Your FM stated that EVERY "Greek" is born and dies as a
Macedonian, according to the reports.

Answered above, grkoman.

Wake up and shake that head. It may start working!!

This applies to you, as can be deduced from your reply. But first, stay away
from the wine jar.

Being misquoted by you is too frequent. The quote referred to the
Greeks who live in the province of Macedonia, you idiot. Otherwise, I
am sure, Kretans, Peloponnesians, Roumeliots, Epirotans, Thessalians
and others would have made their displeasure well known. Get it???

Greece is by not means the only country in which the population has
strong identification with their specific areas. I can assure you
that substantial difference in outlook between Kretans and
Macedonians, for example. That they belong to the same state is
basically a construct of 19th century nationalism that had "nations"
aggregating in single states. It was the same process that created
the union of Italy (please observe that most of Northern Italy was an
area liberated from the Austro-Hungarian Empire) during the
Risorgimento. Prior to the onset of nationalism, Italy and many other
European states were happy to exist as collection of states, sometimes
fighting against each other and sometimes collaborating. The notion
that Tuscany would coalesce into the same entity as the Veneto was
something that was created at the end of the 18th century and took
hold following the Napoleonic wars. The same rationale of aggregation
created modern Greece. Even during the Greek revolution, there were
many independent Greek states which send representatives to the
National Assembly (which held its opening session the same day as
today in 1821). Even during the revolution, regional fights erupted.
Unless you start comprehending this, it would be difficult to
understand how one feels in any given province, including Macedonia.

Really? Do you think I would have bothered quoting your idiot FM if the
reports stated what you state, clown? He was quoted and ridiculed for his
CRAZY "EVERY Greek" statement, moron, NOT for "Greeks from Macedonia".

Yet my question regarding the two Greek citizens who were sentenced in the
'90's for stating that they are Macedonians, remains ignored by you. Why
should they be sentenced and not your CRAZY FM? Why don't you concentrate at
the crux of the matter in this thread (my question) instead of shooting the
messenger.

The extent of your stupidity and misinformation is incredible. By the
way, nobody was "sentenced". Two persons were brought to court after
lawsuits by fellow citizens and went away free after appeals.
Regarding the FM's statement, can you tell me who ridiculed him
because the only statement I can find is yours. There is nothing in
the Greek press. But as usual, your head is up your arse.

In any case, nobody in Greece goes to prison by stating that they are
Macedonians, as 2.7 million are just that. The said persons were
indicted because they claimed that the term "Macedonian" should apply
only to them and to their co-believers and **not** to the rest of the
citizens of Macedonia. In fact, the "Rainbow" web site is quite
specific on this.
