"Bayawak" is "monitor lizard" in English. There are two species of
monitor lizards in the Philippines. One is the common monitor and the
other is the rare Gray's monitor. I believe that the latter can only be
found in some areas of Batangas, Laguna, and Quezon.

"Bayawak" in English is "brother-in-law".
"Hipagak" is "sister-in-law"
"Biyenawak" is father/mother-in-law.
hope this helps,
Eric

Monitor lizard. Used to keep some as pets.
The people down under call them "goannas," which is a corruption
of "iguana," a different sort of lizard.

Nope... a bayawak is a monitor. I've eaten it, too. })

Second cousin?! Eh sino first cousin niya? Siguro congressman, 'no.

Wrong chain, Mihali. Try the 'buwaya' species.

Dehins. Kapatid 'yon...
Baka naman mag-lolo sila. Bakit yung bayawak ay maliit,
samantalang yung komodo ay napakalaki?

Bayawak: "Slander iyan!"
Buwaya: "Napagkamalan nanaman tayo. Nakakainis na iyan, ah!"
Bayawak: Yung mga lalaking nag hahanap ng mga Pilipina pen-pal.
Buwaya: Yung mga babaing nang aagaw ng aking mga kaaliwan.
