Chavit Singson : Ill-Gotten Wealth

Former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis Chavit Singson is considered a hero in
EDSA Dos that toppled Ex-Pres. Estrada to power. He should explain
how can he acquired properties worth of billions of pesos as a Vigan
councilor, congressman and governor. His salary as a government
official for the past 30 years is not enough to buy these properties.
To mention some of his properties are:A luxury yacht named " Escalera"
2. Helicopter RP-C226 and a private jet. 3. A 106 hectares land in
Santa, Ilocos Sur where a Multi- Line Processing and Tomato Paste
plants are built. The said food processing plants its ownership is
questionable. Is it the provincial government or Chavit's dummies? 4.
Mini submarine, mine sweepers and cargo ships. 5. LCS building in
Manila. 6. Vigan Plaza Hotel (under construction)7. Baluarte Mansion
complete with shooting range and many more.
The Arroyo Administration should investigate Gov. Chavit Singson's
unexplained wealth. The people of Ilocos Sur are tired of cover-ups
and denials. Is he UNTOUCHABLE?

Chavit is a star witness in the ongoing plunder case against Former
President Estrada. The Arroyo government will protect him at all cost.
Aling Gloria is paying an utang na loob. Without Chavit's expose' she
still a VP.
Chavit's critics it seems that their lives are in danger. Please read

Chavit critic target of ambush try
By RENE ACOSTA
TODAY Correspondent

Threats against the critics of former Ilocos Sur governor Luis
"Chavit" Singson have intensified following an alleged attempted
ambush on a provincial broadcaster over the weekend.

The attempt on the life of Efren Rafanan occurred about 8 p.m. on
Saturday while he was on his way to a meeting in barangay Pugo,
Magsingal town, 30 km north of the provincial capital of Vigan.

Rafanan was a former senior provincial board member who ran against
Singson's political ally and lieutenant, now Gov. Deogracias Victor
Savellano. The former board member is now a broadcaster on radio
station DZXC and is a strong critic of the provincial government and
Singson.

Ilocos Sur officials were trying to close down DZXC for being too
vocal against the former administration of Singson and now of
Savellano.

The attempted ambush was reported to the provincial office of the
National Police.

Rafanan was supposed to attend the meeting of the Citizens in Action
(CIA) Magsingal chapter, when his six motorcycle escorts were flagged
down in a dimly lit portion of the road by four men in civilian
clothes and armed with M-16 rifles.

The armed men, reportedly in an ambush position, asked his civilian
escorts if Rafanan was with them and if there were other escorts. When
the escorts responded yes, the suspects immediately boarded their
vehicle, an unmarked owner-type jeep, and sped away.

Rafanan was in a convoy of two owner-type jeeps and two tricycles,
beside the motorcycles. He was the founder of the CIA in the province.

Because of the attempted ambush, critics of both Savellano and Singson
expressed fear that they may be eliminated by groups who are
identified with the two.

Rafanan has already asked the PNP to provide him security. He has been
relieved of his police detail after the elections.

The broadcaster was being suspected as one of the personalities
backing the Save Ilocos Sur Alliance (SISA), a group that has filed
two graft charges against Singson.

What was ironic was on the following day, Singson was quoted by a
national daily as saying that his local critics were helping his
detractors plot against his life.

Because of the ambush attempt, SISA legal counsel Estelita Cordero
asked all parties to "stop from acting like warlords."

"I am appealing for the peaceful resolution of all issues. We should
not create Ilocos Sur as a war zone, the death of [Commission on Audit
auditor Agustin] Chan should be the last," she said.

Cordero said the contending parties should fight in court and not
resort to threats or killings. TODAY

He can be a witness to any crime but it doesn't mean his criminal
past will go unnoticed or unpunished.

Wait until PGMA will kick his ass for good.
Of course, he is liable for the alledged crime he committed while in office.
