BOMBSHELL ON BRUNEI BEAUTIES
by Ed Balingit, Philippine Times Journal (Vol. VI, No. 217, Sep. 22,
1993, pp. 1 & 6)

Senator Ernesto Maceda yesterday literally dropped a bombshell at the
resumption of the Senate investigation on the so-called łBrunei
Beauties˛.

He submitted more evidence, including two vital witnesses who gave
detailed accounts of the reported łwhite slavery˛ operations and
identified the two top illegal recruiters of Filipino actresses, students
and models to Brunei allegedly for prostitution.

Maceda presented a report submitted by PNP Chief Inspector Reynaldo P.
Crame and the affidavit of witness Allan Tatad, who both admitted under
oath during a Senate hearing that at least eight actresses and several
Filipino models went to Brunei on different occasions as entertainers but
actually ended up as high-class prostitutes.

Crame later told newsmen he went to Brunei on orders of Maceda last month
to confirm the senatorąs expose. He named actresses Ruffa Gutierrez,
Vivian Velez, Cristina Gonzales, Lea Orosa, Aurora Sevilla, Sheila
Israel, Rachel Lobangco and Tetchie Agbayani of having gone to Brunei and
seen by witnesses on different dates this year at the Royal Palace.

Their recruiters, according to Crame, are Mrs Josefina Villamejor, alias
Nena Shutlzs, a Spanish-Filipina mestiza, and Mrs Manolita Navarro
Dejero, alias Mandee, of the MND Management and Consultant, Inc., a
travel agency with business address at Room 201, LPL Centre, 130 Alfaro
St., Salcedo Village, Makati.

Maceda said he received information that the two have already left the
country after his expose.

The suspectsą accomplices who act as agents for the actresses were
identified by Crame as Angie Abarca of Paranaque, Metro Manila; Ed
Ponseja, a travel consultant; and Goulee Gorospe, a known couturier, who
denied during the hearing having worked as łbroker˛ for international
prostitution in Brunei.

Grilled by Maceda, Gorospec said he was only engaged in the recruitment
of Fiipino models for fashion shows abroad, and that he does not know Mrs
Villamejor personally.

According to Crame, Filipina actresses are paid P250,000 a week by their
łcustomers˛ and are housed in lavish hotels and entertainment houses in
Brunei.

Crame said Gutierrez, whose real name is Sharmaine Rama Gutierrez, was
recruited by Villamejor for Brunei last June, but departed first for
Singapore together with her mother Annabelle Rama and cousin Apple
Gutierrez.

Confidential reports, Crame said, revealed that Ruffaąs group boarded the
Royal Brunei Airline Flight No. F421 at Begawan Airport for Singapore on
June 28, 1993.

Gutierrez, who vehemently denied the charges during the first public
hearing early this month, was in Seat 18C, according to a copy of the
Royal Brunei passengers manifest. Crame said he was able to obtain the
manifest from one of the employees of the Singapore airport.

Tatad, a former employee of the MND travel firm, admitted in a separate
interview having facilitated the travel document of Ruffaąs group for
Singapore, but would not say if the actress went eventually to Brunei.

Tatad, however, confirmed having facilitated a number of times for the
direct ticketing flights of Vivian Velez from Manila to the oil-rich
state.

Crame said travel documents, testimonies of flight attendants and vital
witnesses in Brunei would confirm the presence and engagement in
prostitution of other actresses and models there.

Crame said that the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Singapore, where the actresses
are usually billeted prior to their trip in Brunei, is owned by the
Brunei Sultanate.

Maceda said he would leave it to the joint committee the actions to be
taken against the actresses and the recruiters, including the possible
filing of perjury raps against witnesses who have lied.

łI just wanted to prove that I have a basis and enough evidence in
calling for this particular Senate Investigation,˛ Maceda said.

He said he will recommend amendments to the labour and penal codes to
strengthen the drive against illegal recruiters and abate unrestricted
recruitment of Filipino women for international prostitution.

Somehow I just knew that Ruffa and her "mataray" mother were lying when they
were denying this "Brunei" thing. Where else would Ruffa get that much money
to buy a condo in Beverly Hills? Sultan or Prince of Brunei to the rescue.

Great job Mr. Maceda

What's the difference between a "kanto" prostitute and a Brunei Beauty?
... ano pa
? ... di yung paying capacity of the customer... pero pare-pareho lang

Let us klasipay da
prostitutes in da Piripins:

2. GRO - new term for hostes, can olso be classified into da palowing

Quezon Avenue at Roxas Boulevard

7. The Brunayukis - SILA RUFFA, TECHIE, VIVIAN AT SI CRISTINA
GONZALES...

or don't sila pare-parehong BABAENG PILIPINA... tsk.. tsk.. tsk..

Obviously,
they are ashame and not proud of what they do.
