quasi-politicians. how did they get voted into office in the first

well many of these people got elected because of their popularity or looks
alone [ they had no record because they did not hold an elected position
before]. Some of them became good leaders of their constituents [ herbert
bautista], but they also have some who didnt accomplish anything except as a
chair warmer [ imelda,ramon revilla]. The alarming trend is that the public
seem to elect many famous face without looking at their ideas, background or
qualifications. I got a feeling that a lot of them will win this election
too [vilma,jaworski,etcetera..]

best of all is estrada who didnt pass any memorable law as senator. whose own
man is starting to accuse him of criminal deeds. many of his arrests as a
anti crime leader got thrown out of court for lousy bungling procedures.
Then the leader of his own anti crime group and the group itself became
accused of criminality and then disbanded.

some of them might do a good job later but there are a lot here who will
accomplish nothing as a leader or lawmaker. instead they will serve as a seat
warmer and as an amusing do nothing meron. I think this parochial practice
is one negaTIVE thing that rizal warned us agAints. HE thought in certain
areas the filipinos were not ready. I think electing lousy leaders by
popularity or good looks alone sure is immature. ,self destructive and falls
in this negative category that rizal warned us againts.
