Lagot kang bata ka!

Last time I talked to Louie, he's in the Bay Area, working for a multimedia
company. (After finishing his PhD Comp Sci from USC.) He's got friends
at scf reading this, I'm sure.

Yeah, Louie's got those 'quirks' in class. He was my teacher in one CS
class at UP Los Banos (after getting his MS CS from Ateneo), back in
1984. As a class activity, he herded us all one evening into one of my
classmates' haybol in UPCO, to watch videotapes of the Summer Olympic
Games. It was fun!

One time, he was cracking jokes left and right, and there was this
barkada of girls who ate boiled mais (corn) just before his class. They
sat in front, and after laughing to his jokes, he told the whole class
he can tell who ate "mais" because he could see the "tinga-tinga" from
the pulpit. The rest of the class laughed, and needless to say, those
girls who ate "mais" were embarrased.

Yeah, that was unforgettable Louie - he had a trademark all his own.

Mr. Matienzo--was there ever a bigger stirero alive? He would always get
his years screwed up whenever he would reminisce about old times in class
that you don't know if he's lying or not.

Mr. Ed Cipriano--whatever happened to him? He was the most laid back,
motorcycle-driving dude that I know. Ya, and Art Appreciation was really
STRESSFUL to teach. He just stuck us in the AV room and showed us
slides. I don't remember if he ever took us to museums, but I really
liked him.

And WHO was that Soc. Sci teacher who started the Soc Sci Club? That
little, cute maputi chick?

Thoughts?

He went to USC? When I was in Balmer (Baltimore pala...), I heard that
Louie and several of his batchmates (Jake, Gorres, at ewan kung sino pa)
were in NY -- NYU yata or Columbia... mga math majors na galing Pisay.
May nakilala kasi akong isang actuary na ka-batch nila sa UP sa Balmer.

BTW, hindi ikaw 'yong Bernal na nagturo sa Pisay dati, ano?

Too bad, I can't remember the good times -- but I know that he chose
me to be a contestant in a math contest in my senior year -- over some
people that the class chose. I really should have thanked him for that
chance -- never did... eh paano nga, magkagalit kami!

Once, Albano caught me in her class... sitting at the furthest
table, both feet up, and doing sketches in my notebook. She
STOPPED the lecture right there, had me stand up, announce to
the class what I was doing, the she moved my seat to the very
front of the class. What's worse, she and my Mom were friends
from high school (or was it college), so she contacted her and
told her about the whole thing... arrrrgghh...

Now, as for nice, sweet teachers who are pleasant to the eyes,
how about Ms. Mijares, the music teacher? She was a really
nice person, and very tolerant of students who often sang
off-key. :) Miss pa rin ba siya? Baka puwedeng balikan...

Uh, no, second year Physics teacher and the other teachers called her Cel
or Cely. I remember her banging on the board with a ruler whenever we
sported a glazed look on our faces after she presented some new theory,
and she had to do it all over again because we obviously did not get it
the first time. She was also quick to get on somebody's case whenever
she felt she wasn't getting that person's full and undivided attention in
class.

Anyway, she only seemed like a terror to me back then when I was a
sophomore. Now I'd say she did her job pretty well. :) -RigorM

Heheh... anyway, I went through the Batch 84 yearbook and looked
at the second year pictures. I can't find an Evora listed in
any. What section were you during your sophomore year?

I also know some of your batchmates. My best friend went out with

Yeah, my batchmate Ernie Tarroza, Jr. just sent out an e-mail CC'ing
my batchmates on the net -- I was surprised to see quite a few folks
on the CC list.

lissa is now a practicing dentist. i see her and Aileen around here
sometimes. i heard that aileen is migrating to the US after she gets married
in January '95 and will take up her residency in Pediatrics there. i don't
know where exactly, but i'll probably find out soon.

btw, some folk here from our org want to know what your postal address is.
could you e-mail it to me, if you please?

BTW, are you batchmates with Albin Nual, or Henry Ma? I don't know if
you know Ma, but he sure was acting real retentive the last few
postings.

What I remember most from Pisay was that Intern/Extern thang. Para bang
if you were an Intern, you were kinda looked down upon. I don't know
why, but that was how I felt.

How about the Wildlife place? Ober-da-bakod so many times, but got
caught only once. Hey, that was a nice place. Romantic pa nga at
times...

I remember one time when we had our PE class in the gym, one of my classmate was so
hot to play basketball, he run into the glass window (kalilinis lang kasi kaya hindi obvious
na may salamin). Naubus nga yung class funds namin (I-Emerald) dahil we had to pay for
the window.

Natatandaan niyo pa ba ang S.C. (student/secret canteen on the other side of the wall
separating Wildlife and Pisay.)? Nami-miss ko na yung sardines with egg ni Manang,
miski nagka-Typhoid Fever ako dahil sa pagkain niya.

Is this the one behind the new gym, where the construction guys eat?
Actually, oks nga do'n kasi nakakapag-yosi ka pa na walang sabit.

When I was an SCO, the Corps used one of the rooms at the gym as their
HQ. Anong batch 'to nagsimula? Corps ng Batch '85?

Wow, SCO! Actually, nag-join lang ako noon para makapagdala ako ng rifle
sa Pasa Masid. Pagkatapos ng PM, quit agad. Terror si Zaldivar, pare.
