Help with these 'malalim na Tagalog' words

Hiya,
I am transcribing what an 80 year old Tagalog-speaking woman was saying
on a recording. There are some words that I am having trouble with.
Some words I have identified, but they're idiomatic and can't be found
in my dictionary. If there is no easy way of translating it in English,
then an explanation in Tagalog would be ok. :)
Some words weren't really audible.. so where I may put the letter "T"
may actually be a letter "K" or "P".. Or a "L" for an "N".. "B" for "M"
those were some common problems I had..

1. Binili natin ang binatog
Pinagbibili sa binatog iyon! - This is in reference to selling
a piece of land or a house. In my dictionary "binatog" means
something about boiling corn. So this doesn't make sense.
2. Ikako - could this mean "I said?"
3. PakiLabangan or PakiNabangan
4. Malinis ang budhi - could this be "My conscience is clear" ?
5. Binigyan mo ba ako ng mestisang beles? - What is Beles? And what
could she mean here?
7. emilyard - 8 milliard?? 8 billion?
8. Mahiyaya - mahiya?
9. Maya
10. patay-gutom - kill-hunger?
11. utang niyang katako-takot - his frightening debt?
12. kinatitiri ka ng bahay = house that you built?
13. Tsapol sa pol - ??? I thought this reference to an aunt named
Paula. But I may be wrong.

last name that follows it, but it's not a name. could it be
BAKIN BADIN BARIN? I have no idea. Bakil? Someone says it's
a deep Tagalog word, and they couldn't tell me.. but it is a

after
16. Sasabihin ninyo yung doon sa kubaw - isn't a Kubaw a kalabaw?
17. Buhay pa yata ako, di pa ko URYANIN/BURYANIN - What's this mean?
18. Mangyayabog OR nayayabog
19. Balahipo ang/si <name> - Closest i can find is Balahibo meaning
fine body hair.. could it mean "cheap" or "no money" ??
20. Nilabog din ninyo!
21. Kung pano ang PUNOTDULO ito
22. Buti pa may NAUSIS naman ako.

Perhaps a reference to the level of relationship .. like second cousin or
like wife of brother in law .. not sure.

Me thinks the lady has another Filipino language native to
her, giving her an "accent", so it sounds different from
Tagalog?

AFAIK, it's Tagalog.. she was born in one of the Tagalog speaking
provinces... it could be I'm not used to the accent or the quality of
the tape is bad..
But in any case, thanks to those who tried :) I think I'll go back
later and pick up anything more...

We were taught to avoid the construct, "Ako ay nasa ...." It's unnatural to
Filipino (Tagalog) tongue--a literal translation of English sentence
structure. In Pilipino say, " Nasa Australia (rin) ako." Don't say, "Ako ay
nasa Australia rin." Use of "ay" is superflous, moreover it's very passive.

It may sound unnatural but that doesn't mean we shouldn't avoid it!
Moreover, it's neither passive nor superfluous. It's more emphatic.
Nasa Australia rin ako = I'm in Australia too.
Ako'y nasa Australia rin = Oh, *I*'m in Australia too.. (but not him!)
Watch out for prescriptive grammarians... avoid them like the plague ;)

Maybe she meant "humayà" (short cut is 'mayà)... "Humayà" means "go"... I
remember this because priests mention this after masses in Pilipino:
"Humayà kayóng mga anák ng Dios at ipáhayág ang Magandáng Balità ng
Pánginoóng Jesucristo"... Amen.

I'm at work and using a post only server, so not sure if this threads
correctly. Anyway, binatog is a corn dish. It's boiled, salted corn
(off the cob) served hot and mixed with grated coconut. I remember (am
I dating myself here?), this being peddled on the streets of Manila,
just like taho (bean curd).
Hmm, maybe I'll try this at home this weekend, and see how my two
teenagers take to it.

use of "ay" is an invention of grammarians.

Ako ay pupunta sa palengke. (5 words)
The first is the right and natural way of saying, "I'm going to the market."
The second, the grammarians' way to render the same in Pilipino, which is
"wrong". In Pilipino, the verb usually comes before the subject. So speak
the natural way, not the grammarians' way--you use less number of words too!

But don't forget that you can cheat by saying "Ako'y pupunta sa
palengke" :)
Anyway, I think that it's highly unlikely that it was invented by
grammarians. I know it is seen as unnatural; it does have an unnatural
feel too. But I have incorporated it into my Tagalog.
I have seen it in the 1610 (almost 400 years ago!) publication _Librong
pagaaralan nang manga Tagalog nang uicang Castilla)_ by Tomas Pinpin:
" Ytong di dati nating uicang Castilla, *ay* inyong piliting
ybaloctot ang dila ninyo, at ga papagyquitin na ninyo, na ninyong
maturanturan, ytong maliliuag na di dati nating ypinangongogosap:
yayamang capag nagcayba ang paturing nang manga letra *ay* nagcayba nama
ang manga uicang yaong Castilla at ang cahologan nila."
Again at:
" Ay ang lubha ninyong napagcamalan *ay* ang i at ang e..."
"...at sa pangongosap man *ay* inyong pinagpalit nang maralas..."
I also saw it in the Doctrina Cristiana book published in 1593...but I
don't have it with me to cite sentences.
Now, it is possible that a grammarian created it... But I highly doubt
it... Because if that were the case, then Tagalog would be written
exclusively in the subject-verb-object word order. As you can see from
my examples, the "ay" and the "regular" word order are used alongside
each other. That's my theory at least.

Very interesting... Where did you get copies of these books? Are they
available in North America? I've seen the original Doctrina Cristiana... I
can't remember exactly where but I think I saw it in the Manila Reference
Library...

The reprint of the Doctrina Cristiana is availble in the library that's
in the next county over.
I'm not sure about Tomas Pinpin's book. I got that from a book (at
the library mentioned above) of essays in Tagalog about the Tagalog
language itself.
It's called _Filipino ng mga Filipino: Mga Asteriska sa Istandard ng
Ispeling, Estilo sa Pagsulat, at Paraan ng Pagpapayaman sa Wikang
Pambansa_.
It's weird reading Tagalog in a different kind of spelling and the words
are slightly different too.. One noticeable thing is sometimes the "n"
is assimiliated into the preceding vowel by turning into a tilde.
But anyway, as for availbility.. if you're local library can't get a
certain book.. have them try interlibrary loan... They'll try all
lending libraries in Canada and the US, with the Library of Congress as
their final resort.

I'm aware of that, I was using a read-only newsgroup server on the
flipside. I have since found a read/write newsgroup (I'm using it
now).
The reason I have to do this, is that my ISP won't allow me to access
their nntp servers unless I connect with their (dial-up) servers, but
