Filipino Youth Slangs

<As the title suggests, what are the current slang words used by the
<Filipino Youth, in particular, Metro Manila Youth.

<Is promdi still used? (yes, I know what it means)

<A long time ago, I heard of Baguettes. What are they?

<Any new terms?

<Is the expression dane (sp?) still used?

As far as I remember the word "bagets" started sometime in 1982.
The term I believe evolved from the word "bagito" meaning
newcomer/greenhorn. Bagets basically refer to a teen-ager.
There was a movie entitled "Bagets" in 1983 starring the Regal
babies who were of teen age. Later own those young stars became
known as "bagets'. (I think Herbert Bautista was one of the original
Bagets).

When I went home in December of 1990, the latest lingo then was
"ST" What I gathered from my former officemates "ST"
means "Sex Trip" and refer to the women "bomba stars".

Please correct me on the accuracy of the foregoing.

On another matter, I wonder why it will cost $180,000 to ship
back the Marcos remains. Indeed it will cost that much if Imelda is
entertaining the idea of using a charter plane; which is ridiculous
since Imelda continues to claim she is penniless despite moving
around Manila in a chauffered Mercedes.
My mother died in San Francisco in 1989 and we shipped back her
remains via Northwest to Manila. I recall it did not
cost us more than $2,000. That was 3 years ago and let us take into
consideration that fares and cargo rates have gone up.
But still that will not add up to $180,000! By the way, human
remains are considered as cargo.
Imelda may be thinking of using the regular commercial flight
but she is purchasing a special casket and special funeral
service costing $178,000.
Anyway, who knows what goes on in Imelda's brain and whatelse to
expect from her bag of "pakulos" and "paeklats".

She probably wants to bring back the refrigirator with her plus some
sort of generator to keep it going or something of the sort...

Can you imagine the smell in the plane as soon as they pull him out
of the 'fridge' and stick him in a smaller container for cargo
on a commercial flight?

I also learned something else about "ST". I was in Manila with by barkadas
hanging out (No.1 pass time back there) when a not so attractive gal passed
by. One of my barkada said "Pare ST", I looked at him wondering is this guy
insane. He smiled at me and said " ST - Sarap Tadyakan !"

some precious stones or large dollar bills. Never trust 'dem people.
