Hello,

I keep seeing Cynthia Luster in Filipino movies. She is from Hong
Kong.
Does anyone know how she got into Filipino movies? I watch a lot of Hong
Kong films and has never seen her in any. If anyone can explain?

Cynthia Luster is actually Japanese despite her screen name. She did a lot of
Hong Kong movies starting in the 80s. I think she atsrted making movies in the
Philippines in 1993. I can't remember the title of her first movie, but it had
Mon del Rosario in it. It must have been successful if she kept at it.

Hmmm.....Kage-kage, teqa muna, let me think ..... Ava, if memory does not
fail me, di va siya yong Kick-Boxing queen of Asia? JUZKOH, Rommel Feria,
tama ba? Puwede va, hindi fava obvious kung vakette la famoza siya sa
Filifins?

There was a romantic period between the Filifins and the wonderful whorld
of Shaolin Temple Godezzez of the silver screen. Then, there was the era of
Rey Malonzo "one-against-two hundred" films that had those wonderful kick
sound effects produced by overzealous mouths of sound dubbers (ava, fifol,
those "kick" sounds can even be phonetically spelled! Ganito yon.....cada-sipa,
ang tunog eh "tugg-shshsh" - o, zey?). Then, Lito Lapid. Then, Weng Weng -
with the tenured role as a spy (JUZKOH, ano va yan! Realistically, cucunenne
niyo va siya as an agent? JUZKOH naman!) - at meron fang bonus ang mga filmz
niya syemfre ..... Weng Weng always had a love interest on the side, usually,
si Pia Moran (Inay ko! Juzkoh! Patawarenne!)

Those people, despite the magnitude of inanity of story lines and beautesquely
acted judo-karate-tai chi-arniz roles worthy of the praise of no other than
a self-defense guru such as Barbara Bush, earn tons of money in Filifins!
Cynthia Luster, with the built in metallic glimmer in her name (JUZKOHDAY!),
and kick-baxing prowess (Mga ineng, fatawarenne natenne ang hija), is a sure
takilyera queen in las Filifinas! O zey? Vavoo and tchuss! Mhike

Tita, meron pang isang kick boxing beauty na takilya queen din sa Pinas
circa mid-80s. Her name's Cindy Rothrock. But what surprised me was that
I saw her in one of the movies here. So she made it successfully to
Hollywood. Dunno the title but it's about a father-son bank robbers.
One of the bida is Corey Haim?, known for comedy/horror flicks.
