Recent tagalog songs?

I hear a lot of songs from different Asian countries. I am very fond
of recent Chinese music. Somehow, the melody reminds me of Filipino songs.
I know I can't understand the words but the fact that the words are in Chinese
gives it an appealing taste. The Filipino songs I know are sung mostly in
English. It would be nice though if it was sung in tagalog. At least, I can
feel and hear what I am listening to in a nationalistic sense.
Does anybody know any Filipino artists and their albums, who sing
in tagalog? I am basically interested in recent Tagalog love songs. The
only artist I can remember was Sharon Cuneta. Are their more recent ones?
The most recent song from the Philippines that I heard was the tagalog version
of "Saigo No Iwake".

Chicago once that was playing Chinese music, or so I thought. Correct
me if I'm wrong, but I was pretty sure that the tune was "Anak"
by Freddie Aguilar (is that the right singer?) with Chinese lyrics,
singer, and some Chinese musical embellishments. Has anybody ever
heard of this kind of musical exporting or trade to, say Hong Kong
or Japan, or was I just mistaking a similar tune ?
I seriously doubt that Aguilar copied a Chinese piece because the
tune didn't sound like regular Chinese music that I had heard before.
If I'm right, then it's nice to know that the Cantonese are listening
to our music, too.(It makes sense since most Chinese in RP are from
Hong Kong and can handle importing and exporting of dry goods as well
as music. Or is this the result of exporting Filipino singers abroad?)

Yes, I've heard of such a thing. One fine day, I noticed that my
ex-roommate (from Hong Kong) was listening to a tape that had a
very familiar tune on it. This tune was sung in Cantonese. After
careful examination of my record collection, I realised that Jose
Mari Chan might have done the original of this song. The title:
"Please Be Careful With My Heart"
I also recall ... eek, forgot her name, but anyway, her voice sounds
like Karen Carpenter's ... but she did it the other way around, where
she sung a song that was originally Cantonese (or Mandarin, can't
remember which) that was translated to Tagalog ...

Yes, you are right. Freddie Aguilar wrote this song. If I remember right,
I think this song even won some Asian music award. It has definitely been
translated to many different languages.

Freddie Aguilar's "Anak" was exported to several countries
(including Hong Kong, singapore, Holland, Germany and U.A.E.),
appeared in several countries' Top 100 and spawned numerous
versions. I guess you can safely say that "Anak" was the first
Pinoy song to achieve international success. I have friends
from Kuwait and Norway who know the song. Every once in a while
you'll hear it on Muzak.
Speaking of Muzak, I was in an elevator once when I heard
"Kahit Konting Pagtingin" being played. That was a surprise
since I swear that song was O.P.M. I wonder how they got hold
of it?

seven different languages -- sort of like "Saigo No Iwake" which was mentioned
by Kage in a previous posting (but of course, saigo is no match for anak's
brilliant lyrics and superior melody).
Does anybody like The Dawn? I really like "Enveloped Ideas" (although it's
written in english), "Isang Banka Tayo", "Salamat", etc. Also, I really liked
the After Image song, "Next in Line" from the album Touch the Sun. Does anybody
know where to buy new OPM (original pinoy music) in the Boston area?
