I know this subject is somewhat "taboo" but it affects many Filipino
communities big and small. Growing up in southern California I've noticed
the explosion in numbers of people joining gangs. Filipino gangs are a fact
of life in some places. I have listed here the gangs I know exist:
Northern California:
Bahala Na Gang (BNG), Satanas (STS), Real Pinoy Brothers (RPB), Hayward Boys
(Hayward), All Brothers Together (or ABT Union City), Vigilantes (San
Francisco/Daly City), 13 Down (Vallejo?)
Southern California:
Satanas (STS), Real Pinoy Brothers (RPB), Bahala Na Gang (BNG),Tau Gamma
Pinoy, Hell Side Gang, Scout Royal Brotherhood (SRB), Akhro, Trupang Judas,
Carsone Pinoy Compadre (CPC), The Boys Gang (Sun Ray Manor, Carson), Pinoy
Real (West Covina), Sige Sige Sputnik
San Diego:
B-Down, PQ (Rancho "Pinoysquitos"), Manila Mesa, Bahala Na Barkada
this listing is by no means complete...what I've listed might even be just
scratching the surface...
One thing I've noticed about Pinoy gangs. They (for the most part...things
may have changed) usually fought with each other and sometimes with gangs
from other neighborhoods/cities/ethnicities. Some have even recruited
members of other ethnicities. Union City's ABT gang, for example,
originally started out as a Filipino gang, but as time progressed, its
members now include blacks, Mexicans, whites, and other Asians.
Some Filipino gangs are offshoots of fraternities with representation from
the Philippines. Gangs such as Scout Royal Brotherhood (or SRB) have its
origins with the US Boy Scouts. They are known as the "little brothers" of
the international Alpha Phi Omega (APO) fraternity. In the Los Angeles
area, SRB is known as a Filipino street gang. My dad told me about the
gangs from the Philippines including Bahala Na Gang (if they say you're
gonna die....you're dead/reputedly the largest Filipino gang (?), OXO, and
Sige Sige. Filipinos joining gangs aren't limited to the impoverished
sections of town....some of these gangsters are driving Volvos and Mercedes
and are very organized when it comes to crime. Some are local Pinoys and
some have "Filipino accents" they can't shake....another reason to identify
with others of the same kind, since some Filipinos won't associate with
Filipinos.
It is truly sad when people are killed. I hope the killing stops not only
among Filipino gangs but every other group "at war" with someone else. This
is something (the gang problem) that must be dealt with as Filipino
communities grow here in the USA. It is one thing to belong to a
clique/barkada protecting your "own" and/or your kaibigans/neighborhood, but
its another thing to commit crimes as a group....it makes the law abiding
overwhelming majority of Filipino Americans look bad.
Some of you may turn your nose up to this posting. Some of you might even
relate to this aspect of "growing up in the Filipino community". Any
comments/suggestions/feedback is encouraged. If I ever come around to
writing a book on Filipino Americans "One Million Pinoys: Filipinos on the
West Coast", it would be shame not to include a chapter on Filipino youth
and the impact of gangs on the Filipino Community. And no, im not
glorifying gang life. It simply exists. This is beyond the "are they
good?/are they bad?" discussion.
My own sister was the target of some Filipino girl gang members from San
Diego...the girls had the guts (stupidity?) to drive to my parents house and
"call out" my sister, when my parents answered the door they tried to come
in, the girls were talking shit to my parents, while trying to get at my
sister, WHAT THE HELL HAPPEND TO RESPECT? these young Pinays didn't give a
shit if my parents were there....they just wanted to beat up my sister (or
worse).....all this bullshit over a guy, my parents called the cops, but by
the time the police got there, the young Pinay bitches got the fuck outta
there. And you young Pinoys who can't do nothing without your
homeboys....some of you are tough, and some of you can't back it up.
Peace,
AZMIK

They are based at home. Yukosa is short for Yuko sa Asawa (Bow to wife) and
Tigas is short for Tiga Saing (Rice cooker).
These two factions are affiliates of the bigger gang called UHAW: United
Husbands Afraid of Wife.
Hope this clarifies,

Dito di na uso yan, ang uso na dito ay tropa-tropa, mafia, at

Almonte at block ni de Venecia; at ang kamag-anakan ay mga political

Mr.Lustre
YO G, I UNDERSTAND THAT KIND OF FEELIN ABOUT GANGS. I USED TO BE A
GANG MEMBER IN TORONTO, CANADA CALLED B.F.K. (BROWN FACE KILLAS), WHICH
CONSIST OF 82 HOMEBOYS STRAIGHT FROM THE PHILIPPINES, AND HALF OF THEM
WERE FROM COTOBATO (MUSLIMS) AND THE OTHER HALF FROM MANILA.
WE DID NOT GET ALONG WITH THE W.W.P.'S (WHITE-WASHED PINOYS), WHO
BELIEVED THAT BEING IN A WESTERN CULTURE IS THE COOLEST THING TO BE.
I QUIT THE GANG-LIFE AFTER, BECAUSE I WAS FORCED TO KILL MY OWN
BRO. I DID NOT DO IT AND SO THEY THREATENED ME. I COULD NOT STAND IT NO
LONGER, SO I MOVE OUT OF THE CITY IN LIVED IN AN ISLAND PROVINCE CALLED
NEWFOUNDLAND. IN THIS PLACE I CONTINUED A PEACEFUL LIFE AND ALSO STARTED
SCHOOL IN A UNIVERSITY, AND ALSO JOINED THE NAVY. SOME OF MY BROS MOVED
HERE EVENTUALLY, AND WE STARTED A CREW THAT WE CALL "THE CIRCLE BOYS",
KNOWN FOR GATHERING TOGETHER IN CIRCLES.
THE ONLY REASON WHY SOME OF THE FILIPINOS CREATE GANGS IS BECAUSE
OF OUR HERITAGE. BEFORE SPAIN INVADED OUR COUNTRY WE WERE WARRIORS AND
HEAD HUNTERS. THEN AFTER AWHILE AFTER ALL THE WARS OUR COUNTRY EXPERIENCE,
WE FILIPINOS DEVELOPED TO HAVE A KILLER INSTINCT, A FROM OF CULTURAL
EVOLUTION THAT OUR PEOPLE HAVE GONE THROUGH. I THINK YOU KNOW THAT OUR
HOMELAND IS ALMOST 200% HIGHER IN MURDER RATE, THE TOP FIVE FOR BEING THE
MOST NOTORIOUS PLACE TO LIVE. THIS INFORMATION WILL GIVE YOU A HINT WHY SO
MANY OF US HAVE THIS NATURAL ABILITY TO FIGHT, AND FOR THE ACCUMULATION OF
FILIPINO GANGS IN AMERICA.
FOR F#*@ SAKES, WE EVEN KILL OUR OWN IN A COUNTRY WHERE FILIPINOS
ARE A MINORITY.
I'LL GO FOR NOW, BUT ADIOS SA IYO AND BE PROUD OF THE GOOD THINGS
NOT THE BAD.....

I see SCF posters who use the word "faggot" as a bunch of homophobes. They do not
have the cojones to get along with a fellow member of the human race.

Why are there so many gangs in California? Because CA has some of the
toughest gun control legislation in the US. Consequently, "decent folk"
can't legally defend themselves from crooks, and security guards are out
of the question (unlike in the P.). Instead we have policemen who eat
donuts in their $40,000 squad cars and ticket folks with expired license
plate tabs.
And vermin that would be shot down and buried in a ditch in a casket of
maggots under any morally proper system of evolutionary justice get to run
around loose committing hundreds of crimes at leisure. And since drugs are
illegal yet in high demand, the profits to be made from them by villains
are enormous.
Wanna see the Philippines become *just* like southern California?
Easy. Pass into law all the same, stupid crap we have over here.

A lot of Asian gangs and mafias are also recruiting Filipinos into thier
ranks. A few of the forementioned gangs are simply "runners" for certain
mafias based here in California.
Also worth mentioning are a spin off of these gangs, known as "cliques"
"crews" "familias" or whatever they want to call themselves. Although they
do not have the numbers to be called a "gang," they do have affilation with
one or more of the gangs named above, and they do participate in standard
gang activity.
So why do kids get into this lifestyle? I myself am not sure, since i was
caught up in it myself. I guess it was a need for friends, to fit in. It was
a way of rebellion. Luckily, I didn't get as caught up into the game as a
few of my friends were, and it's something they have to live with for a long
time to come.

-----TRUE. Have you heard of the Manila-Honolulu-Los Angeles route?

-----------------I know a clique of dancers who also got jumped in to
SATANAS. If they get into any kind of trouble they know who to page. They
gots that kind of backup when the shit goes down. A lot of these young men
are NOT COWARDS. Even though the gang has topped out its membership in my
old neighborhood, the "pee wees" (very young gangsters) are down for "each
other" if you wanna get it on with one you have to deal with the others.
Ive heard of stories RE: Satanas, going to other cities to beat up rivals
and even when outnumbered 3-to-1 the Satanas homeboys still won.
>So why do kids get into this lifestyle?
--------so they can talk the most shit, walk into a party and have people
notice like "oh shit them boys is from (so-and-so)", to get women/easy sex
(who like "bad boys" you know youre out there), carry the firepower, a way
to male-bond, a way to release anger, out of necessity (ive read in the LA
Times about "Keebler" of Panorama City RPB... he was tired of getting picked
on by the local Latino gang....when asked about his gang membership he
replied "What ya' gonna do, tell your dad?". Why didn't I join?! I thought
it would ruin my life.....they say once you're in that's pretty much it!
Peace to KKB
Congrats in getting out of the gang life

Haay naku DESIREE o CRICKET o kung sino ka man na nagsasabing 14 yrs old
ka... Tanong ko lang? Utoy o Ineng, me buhok ka na ba sa genitals mo...
as in Pubic Hair (PH)? Makate yan... at wag mong kakamutin baka
magsugat.
If you can say and do these things at this point in
time, how much more after several years.
