ABS-CBN releases Hero Angeles

Finally, controversial young actor Hero Angeles, has been released by
Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent center. His contract with the network is
being terminated effective Sept. 30, 2005.

It is recalled that in the recent past, Hero, who for a time became
very popular as part of the Sandara Park-Hero Angeles loveteam, has
been getting negative press (compounded by his brother Henry's not so
friendly relationship with the entertainment press) and his image was
even more sullied and assailed with his legal entanglement with
colleague Cristy Fermin who Hero sued for 27 counts of libel for
insinuating that he is gay.

Some entertainment writers symphatized with Hero, saying the
circumstance of his falling out of grace in showbiz wasn't entirely
his own making, that not everything and everyone have been fair with
him. After all, he is a talented guy who has proven his academic
prowess (he is a Fine Arts student at UP Diliman).

As a result of Hero's problems with Star Magic, he was slowly taken
out of his shows on ABS-CBN (among them "SCQ Reload," now defunct).

But anyway, here's the official statement of Star Magic's big boss,
Johnny "Mr. M" Manahan regarding Hero's release from Star Magic:

"Star Magic, ABS-CBN Talent Center, has asked Hero Angeles to sign a
release from his management outfit effective Sept. 30, 2005.

"In the time Mr. Angeles has been with Star Magic, difficulties have
persisted between Star Magic and Mr. Angeles and his older brother and
co-manager Henry. These difficulties have now become untenable.

"Successful artist management depends on group effort, a collaboration
between Star Magic and the whole spectrum of the ABS-CBN Entertainment
Group.

"Hero and Henry's methods and goals were not in synch with those of
ABS-CBN and as a result, future collaboration seems impossible."

So now that Hero will soon be free of his obligations with ABS-CBN, he
can plan any career move necessary. Movie observers and fans are now in
the watch: Will he move over to GMA-7?
