MORE than five years ago, a funny recording was circulated by e-mail
in Manila. People referred to it as "Orgasm ni Inday". It was the
monologue of a Visayan woman having, well, an orgasm in a mixture of
English and Filipino and spoken with a Visayan accent. If I'm not
mistaken, this wasn't an actual woman in an actual sex act. It was
really just a monologue performed by a theater actor.

I've lost my file of "Orgasm ni Inday" and so have my friends. We
would like to get a hold of it though. So many characters in some
plays have been inspired by this monologue.

If you have a copy of it, please send me an e-mail at
patag...@yahoo.com

I've got a comedy bit performed by a Pinay that sounds like what you are
looking for. I'll email it to you later. Anybody else want it just ask. As I
recall the file is not that big.

"Nasapo keng bola ning lalim ning tete."

Orinello,

I taught the phrase to my Manila friends too and they always get it
wrong. And them trying to say it is as much part of the fun as me
saying it (It does sound naughty and bastos to Tagalog ears :) )

This is the phrase:

Asapu que ing bola quing lalam ning tete

This is how they understand it:
Nasa puke ang bola ng ilalim ng titi.

And this is the rough English translation:
In the vagina is the ball under the penis.

Doesn't make sense, but it's funny anyway.

While I am waiting, I would like to sing a Sylvia La Torre song . . . I like
this song but part of its lyrics have been gone in oblivion . . . beyond
blue yonder.

<Hit it>

At ako'y tinulungan.

Habang tumutulong ay bubulong-bulong,
"Malagu ka Miss Ibyang . . . buri ku maglawlaw."

Dali-dali akong lumisan baka sumabay

Orinello

P.S. Does anybody have this old record? I am willing to pay $2.00 for
either WMA or MP3 copy of this old song.

While, I am still waiting for Mangantamu's response, I would like to sing
another Sylvia La Torre song to make your day.

It is another "binata song" that will surely make the Pigs pucker.

<Hit It>

May isang binata 'di ko malilimot
Magandang lalake, marangal kumilos

Ang sabi,"I love you, manalig ka at totoo."
"Forever at peks man, hindi magtataksil sa 'yo"
"My darling o giliw kinakapos ang Ingles ko"
"Nguni't habang may buhay, asahang mong I love you so."

It is another "binata song" . . . This time I would like you to help me with

<Hit it>

(Please insert the Waray lyrics here - Dili ako mantigo ug Waray)

Sylvia La Torre ang mosly folk songs and kundimans (old love songs).
She's a soprano (because there really are very few Filipinos women are
true altos). Very difficult to find a CD of her work these days, come
to think of it. A friend told me she has a beautiful rendition of
"Lagi Kitang Naalala" (I Often Remember You). For those who like
listening to old FIlipino songs, a Sylvia La Torre album is a good
item to have in one's collection.

However, I think young people in the RP are not familiar with her work
anymore. This is the generation that grew up listening to Eraserheads,
Yano, Parokya ni Edgar and Color It Red.

Sylvia La Torre should belong to a sort of Music Hall of Fame. The modern
Filipinos in the Pinas redicule any song that is sang by a soprano.

These modern artists you mentioned are no contest to her.

I learn how to sing pandanggo, balitaw and kundiman from Sylvia La Torre. I
believe, she is the daughter of Olive La Torre, a movie theme composer
during the golden age of Filipino movie.

Sylvia La Torre sang many movie themes including "Waray-Waray," and
"Batanguenya."

Well, somebody found Just JT's insult to a Filipino song, but no "Ating ku
pung singsing."

I am surprised that many have never heard of Sylvia La Torre. Although she
is only an alto soprano (equivalent of a German soprano), her music can be
heard all over the world. True Filipinos carry her music in their suitcases
when they leave their native land for a better life somewhere else in the
world.

For a change of tempo, I would like to piss-off the Pigs once more with a
hard core Sylvia La Torre song.

"Mutya ng Pasig"
by Nicanor Abelardo

I had a ring (once).
It was a family heirloom.
I inherited this
From the mother I came from
I virtually kept it
Inside a hope chest.
It just disappeared
Without my awareness.

The heartache inside me
Reaches up to the sky
My crossed arms
Are on top of the table
Whosoever would find
My inherited ring
My poor heart
Shall worship him.

If you think what you are doing is a parody, let me tell you, your
translation is not a parody.

Here is an example of a parody:

"Ikaw ay Mangkukulam"
(melody - "Ako ay Pilipino")

Ikaw ay mangkukulam; mangkukulam din kayo
Ikaw ay nagkasala sa lipunan at madla.

Sa Sacramento, Pueblo de Diablo
Ang kapitolyo ng demonyo
Dito tinipon ang mangkukulam
Ikaw at kayo.

Ikaw ay mangkukulam;
Kayo ay mangkukulam
Taas noo kahit kanino
Mahuhuli rin kayo!

I guess you have never seen a 10" 33rpm record . . . why ? You cannot afford
them or family cannot afford them during the fifities . . . or you are

We lost all my dad's collection when we moved, otherwise, I would have given

Thank you.

My father's maternal side is from Pasig.

Did you know that Urduja, the daughter Rajah Soliman was the Paraluman ng
Pasig? Paraluman is Tagalog for princess. I know the Pigs headed by
Mangantamu will disagree with this.

He will claim again that Imelda Romualdez is the true Paraluman ng Pasig.
And damn, Dalubwika will surely post another song in Bogobo to prove that
Mangatamu is absolutely correct.

And watch for Sylvia Knoerr's translation of it.

Sure . . . Mangantamu's (aka Pepeton J'Anton, aka Viktoro, aka Ferdinand
Marcos, Jr., the former lover of Leonardo di Caprio) formula of a post still
works.

It is becoming predictable now, though.

Just keep those money pouring, Ferdie. Because if you stopped it, "No
Money, No Honey."

Sounds good. I once heard old Pinoy music from the 40ies or so on web radio.
It was all played "unplugged", and of course it wasn´t exactly hi-fi
quality, but great music!

Uh, there is still so much to discover!

Do you come from the Pinatubo area?

Diomedes Maturan is still alive.

He won Tawag ng Tanghalan's Grand Final in 1958(?) with his rendition of
"Rose Tattoo." Because of his appeal to the public, Don Jose Zara, the
impressario of Clover Theater, made him a main attraction in his show.

Diomedes also made a few movies with Marita Zobel as his love partner. I
remember this movie about an enchanted forest with a one-eyed giant, dwarfs
and an evil witch. I think the movie was "Ang Mahiwagang Gitara" (A Magic
guitar).

No he isn't. His son Dennis came on a YahooGroup I'm on and started talking
about his father's death. He also complained when someone spammed porn on the
group, which prompted someone to ask if he's gay. LOL
