Police made the confirmation even as the late star's family announced
they have started a foundation "to create more Rico Yans," role models
like the popular star who died in his sleep on Good Friday. Chief
Supt. Jose Marlowe Pedregosa, director of the Philippine National
Police Crime Laboratory, said medico-legal experts found no traces of
illegal drugs in Yan's blood samples.
The disclosure came in the wake of persistent speculations that the
27-year-old actor died from an overdose of the designer drug Ecstasy.
Pedregosa also said .07 percent of ethyl alcohol, which he said was
equivalent to two bottles of beer or two shots of whisky, was found in
the young actor's blood specimen.
A person is considered drunk if he has consumed .15 percent of ethyl
alcohol, he explained.
Pedregosa, who earlier declined to release autopsy results on the
request of Yan's family, confirmed medico-legal findings that Yan died
from hemorrhagic pancreatitis resulting in cardiac arrest.

Rico Yan is dead, but his family is making sure his dream will still
come true.
The family has decided to put up the Rico Yan Youth Foundation,
according to his elder brother Bobby.
"When Rico was still alive, he encouraged the youth to stay away from
drugs and to engage in worthwhile activities," Bobby said. "He was one
example that a young person cannot be corrupted."
Bobby said it was his brother's dream to put up a foundation for the
youth.
"Rico did his job," Bobby said. "He did a lot. He gave so much of
himself to people. Now, it's up to us to continue his dreams."
He said the foundation is also "for all those who love and trust
Rico."
Bobby himself will head the foundation. Rico's fellow contract stars
at ABS-CBN will be honorary members.
The Yan family requested sympathizers not to send flowers to the wake
but instead to make a donation to the newly Rico Yan Youth Foundation.
Bobby, who shared a condominium unit with Rico in Greenhills, San
Juan, said he has been meeting a lot of people at the wake who said
his brother had helped them in the past.

Rico Yan's uncle is the General Aglipay the Director of PNP, National
Capital Region. Gen. Aglipay's wife is the sister of Rico Yan's
mother. This can be a good angle for the "clean living" cover up.
Rico Yan is a heavy smoker and said to have used ecstasy according to
some of his friends.
Well whether he used prohibited drugs or not, he has lived his life
well. He was one of the few actors who invested their money wisely by
engaging themselves in food franchise business.

The mere fact that I (apparently) survived the '80s should be taken as
strong evidence it is near impossible to overdose on Ecstasy.

I like to think I've lived my life well also, tho I've never risen to
the lofty heights of owning food franchises ...... best I've been able
to do is owning this sleazy mail-order enterprise.
