Hello everybody,
'Would appreciate the meaning a/o translation to the word
'aspog'. Apparently it's a word used to describe someone, and I think
there's a negative connotation to it. It was used in the same sentence with
the word 'makulit' which to my understanding means; someone who nags, or
asks a lot of questions.correct me if I'm wrong. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks, Joseph

Yes, you're right, makulit means bothering (as in "You're bugging me")
but I couldn't say what aspog means - never hear of it. Any chance you
misspelled it?

It seems like it's a very new tagalog slang word. But maybe you overheard
about the word "ASPOG" maybe it should be "ASTIG". Usually, the tagalog
slang word is just a reverse of the real word. For example is "ASTIG", which
means "TIGAS" or "SIGA". Which means BRAVE, very mean person.

The slang "aspog" is different from "astig". "Aspog" means something or
anything that went "awry" as planned. "Aspog na naman ang plano mo" "your
plan went wrong again, "Aspog ang panliligaw ni Pedro kay Maria"Pedro's
courtship with Maria was a disaster,"na-aspog (nabisto) ang raid ng mga
parak""the planned raid by the cops was discovered beforehand.

The truth is, this slang "aspog" is quite old . I heard it way back 20
years ago, before I
I moved to U.S.A.

"Aspog" mean to feel someone's girlfriend while you're necking. It's an
old "istambay" slang in the 60's. It's a derivative of "kaspog" or
"kaplog".

Sorry, you must have lived in a wrong neighborhood. "kaplog" means to
molest, or to fondle the breast. Kaspog may sound the same as "aspog" but
"aspog" was never used for anything sexual in manner of speech. That's how
we used these slangs in our neighborhood anyway.

Sorry for you to novoecijano.. I am 100% a Manila Boy and 99.9% istambay when
I was growing up in the city. I can guarantee you 100% that that's the way
the word was used. Maybe not in Nueva Ecija where you seem to have come from.

kaplog can also be a noun... a girl is a kaplog if she's easy.

This is one fine example on how a nice exchange of views can be trashed by
people that think they were acting smart or macho by getting into the
conversation using their foul mouth instead of their brains. Hey.....
whatever turns you guys on, just think what you are doing to this NG. Just
my 2 cents. For the record, nobody was verbally fighting here until
Mehdulla Oblongata came into the picture. Kindly read the thread better,
okay?
