Hi folks, is anybody reading this newsgroup? I am looking
for info on where I can locate a book about the language, its grammar
etc. Also, are there any esperanto groups in Italy?

Yes, of course people read this newsgroup! At least I do...

Anyway -- the main Esperanto Group in Italy is the Itala Esperanto-
Federacio, and their address is:

Via Villoresi 38
I-20143 Milano

And their telephone number is:

(02) 83 50 857

[Also, the Jarlibro 1990 lists their "p^ck" as 37312204 -- does anybody
know what the shorthand "p^ck" signifies?]

Founded in 1910, the IEF has over 1500 members, and publishes a 16-page
newsletter, L'Esperanto, 12 times a year.

I'll let someone else field your request for teaching materials... did
you want those in English, Italian, or some other language?

Good luck with via venonta vivo en Esperantujo!

See if you can locate a copy of David Richardson's "Esperanto: Learning
and Using The International Language." It's really three books in one:
a history of Esperanto, a short course in the language, and an Esperanto
reader.

Sure, there must be readers, but how many and where? Can someone
give the answer to such question?
