Hola soc.culture.el-salvador readers,

We wanted to let you know about the El Salvador Spanish Schools,
offering
classes and homestay in El Salvador, and online at http://www.salvaspan.com
since 1999.

We offer Spanish classes and homestays in several cities in El
Salvador,
including Santa Ana, San Salvador, and now in Chilanga, Morazan with
tours
to the Museo de la Guerra in Perquín. We also offer Latin Dance
classes in
Santa Ana and classes at the beach in El Sunzal and La Libertad...you
can learn to Salsa
and surf while you study Spanish.

In La Libertad, our students usually stay in the beach hotels or in
rentals, and nearby at El Sunzal many of our students stay at the
Surfer's
Inn, on the beach in front of one of El Salvador's longest and best
point
breaks. Our qualified professors offer your classes at your hotel or
rental, in a one-on-one setting. We have a school office in Santa
Ana, and
offer classes in a classroom setting there.

The basic program fees are $175/week for 20 hrs/5days of Spanish
classes,
$100/week for Salsa dance lessons, and $125/week for homestays with
Salvadoran families, which include breakfast and lunch with the host
family
and a private room and bath. Homestays are available in Santa Ana and
San Salvador
only, and we offer a discount of $50 for students who study and stay
with a family
in Santa Ana.

We have an online application available on our website, and you can
use
Paypal to pay your fees online: http://www.salvaspan.com/prices.html

The rest of this letter will tell you more about our program. Let us
know
if you have other questions.

Hasta pronto,

El Salvador Spanish Schools offers intensive Spanish language and
culture
courses in Santa Ana, San Salvador, and in Puerto La Libertad and
El Sunzal, coastal surfing destinations.

We offer Spanish language instruction at all levels,
and our basic lesson plan consists of twenty hours of study a week,
four
hours a day. We also offer flexible scheduling, 1:1 classes and custom
curriculum as requested. You will be given a placement exam upon your
arrival to determine your level of instruction. Our class size is
limited
to 8 students.

We are a unique program in that we offer students the option of
studying in
La Libertad, in the coffee country of Santa Ana, or with the Escuela
Cuzcatlan in the capital, San Salvador. You can study at one, two, or
all
three locations, which allows you to really get to know the country.

Want to learn to Salsa? We now offer dance classes in Santa Ana and
San
Salvador, including professional instruction in Salsa, Merengue,
Cumbia,
and Baile Folklorico.

Our program is designed around a full-immersion pedagogy, which
includes
intensive Spanish instruction and the chance to put what you learn
into
practice through a homestay with a Salvadoran family. Students also
have
the option of a hotel or rental apartment.

We also offer three excursions per week to Mayan ruins, waterfalls,
highland coffee villages, volcanoes, and museums. Flexible scheduling
options, private tutoring, and one-on-one classes are available, and
discounts are available for groups.

Our instructors are experienced language teachers with degrees from
the
national universities, and Director Nelson Pacheco is bilingual and
has
nine years of teaching experience. He is available to facilitate your
visit, helping with tasks which are difficult for
foreigners, such as renting a house or car, making travel
arrangements, or
just getting your food the way you like it. We take personalized care
of
each student, ensuring a fun and safe language immersion experience.

Quotes from some of our students:

"I forgot to mention how fabulous my homestay family is. Karina and
Santiago and Sarita and baby Samantha are warm, bright, friendly, and
easy
going. I`ve been in 6 homestays in other countries, and this was the
best
by far. Thanks,
Tara Williams"

" I travelled to El Salvador in May of 2001. This trip was one of the
most
exciting I have ever been on...I was very pleased with my homestay
family,
they were wonderful! The class instruction was very informative. I
visited
the Pipil/Mayan ruins in Santa Ana and also
took a bus trip from Santa Ana to San Salvador to Usulután. The
country has
so much to offer students of any discipline especially those
interested in
Public Health, Conservation, and of course speaking Spanish. The best
thing
about this program is the price! I highly recommend this program as a
language immersion.
I have been to Costa Rica and Mexico, and El Salvador offers the same
if
not more. I am currently a senior at SUNY Brockport, Health Science
major
with a minor in Sociology, the trip was invaluable to me. Try it you
will
not regret it!
Michelle Juive."

We offer two semester programs, corresponding to the fall and spring
semesters in the USA (September-December, February-May) and winter and
summer sessions in January, July, and August.

About college credit: to receive college credit for your coursework
with
our program and most other language schools, you need to document your
coursework and then have the credits assessed by your home
institution. We
will issue a syllabus, transcripts and written evaluations of your
progress, and you will need to keep your homework and tests to
document
your work. We are happy to work with you and your Study Abroad Advisor
to
develop a plan of study that meets all university requirements and
content,
and have offered semester-long classes like Central American Lit to
advanced students, which were transferable to their home universities.

The website also has links to dozens of resources on El Salvador,
maps,
photos, and Spanish language and literature links.

Also feel free to call or email us if you have any questions.
