Why are the majority of croatians dark skinned and have dark hair...
why aren't they more fair skinned and have blonde hair like Germans,
Poles, Scandinavians, Czechs, Russians etc...........

Being one of the 'minority' I would say that darker hair seems to be more
common. Population on the South tends to have darker skin on the average
( climate, history of the area, I, guess) while the one on the North often
has somewhat pale skin color.

Myself, I'm from the South and am a freckled redhead who can't take summer
sun very well or, better, not at all.

Anyway, I don't know how would Portuguese, Southern French, Spanish,
Italian and Greeks answer such a question, since similar traits can be
observed there as well. Ultimately, I would attribute it to the
climate and early migration patterns from Asia ( you know, in those
days of Roman Empire).
