Colombia 3 - Parma 0
Game played in the city of Cali, Colombia, before 55.000 Colombians fans.
Asprilla played for Colombia this time.
Colombia completely controlled the first 30 minutes. Initial push by Colombia
somewhat unusual since their style is to slowly take control of midfield and
then put forward, constant pressure. This time they started on all cylinders,
taking control right from the start.
First goal came as a result of a penalty kick, Harold Lozano scored, in the
last minutes of the first half.
As expected, Parma came out with a different approach in the 2nd half. They
managed to impose some order and control in midfield and produced a couple of
shots on the Colombian goal. In one approach, the Colombian goalie was injured
when he confronted a ball chased by a Parma forward and collided. Goalie was
replaced.
Colombia's defense, under pressure, made some errors, causing another couple
of 'soft' opportunities for Parma.
In mid 2nd half, Colombia again started to control midfield, coming steady to
Parma's 18teen area. 2nd goal came by Avila's masterfully deceiving Parma's
defense, then putting the ball for Valenciano to put it into the net with
just a touch.
3rd goal came when Parma's goalie let go of the ball and Valderrama snatched
it right almost from his hands to send a ground shot to the net.
Very entertaining match, public very satisfied with Colombia's performance.
Parma's coach is also looking for a Colombian midfielder to complement
Asprilla's forward position.
Sunday May 14: Colombia vs Bayern-Munich in Bogota, Colombia.
