Arguably, it claimed the life of Miss. Teresa Teng when she was with her
French boyfriend in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Teresa passed away while on holiday in Suite 1502, Imperial Mae Ping Hotel,
Chiang Mai, on 8.5.95 - 42 years old. Some say she collapsed naked on the
hallway of the Imperial Hotel due to severe asthma attack calling for
"mama". How tragic. The Thai newspaper published pictures of her naked
corpse. Newspapers reported there were some superficial bruises on her face,
head, neck and leg. In a Malaysian chinese newspaper's photo, I saw small
bruises on her neck and leg, but unfortunately I could not read chinese
while nothing much was reported in English newspapers. Some say on her face
there were some red marks like "finger marks" - like the face was slapped.
It was unsure if the bruises were caused before her death or by the medical
team while trying to save her.
Her French boyfriend Paul nowhere around. Some say they had an argument over
the bf's flirting with Thai girls. (Those scantilly-dressed sexy Thai
sexworkers probably). Yet some say she stayed back alone at the hotel and
didnt join her friends because she complained she was not feeling well. If
she was not well, the boyfriend should keep her company and take care of
her, isn't it, especially if she has been feeling unwell for 3 months
suffering from flu and pneumonia as reported. So did they really had a
quarrel? Did she died of illness or asthma? A mystery only God knows.
I believe she wouldn't have died if she was single, lesser emotional stress.
This frenchman might have contributed to her early death. Inter-culture
relationships can be very stressful. Try it yourself, or just read about the
ex-Fench President and their scandals and you will understand.
Teresa has fame and wealth but unlucky in love. I remembered that at the
height of her fame, she was reported in some gossip magazines to be courted
by a Malaysian Chinese tycoon's son. Marriage was discussed and planned, but
abruptly cancelled due to opposition from the man's family over some
personal issue with Teresa. (Hush..hush, I cant bear to write about that
scandal 'cos I love Teresa Teng.) Teresa was hurt, saddened and embarassed.
With dreams of marrying squashed and reputation sullied, I think that was
why she hooked up with a Caucasian boyfriend as they are more open-minded
than Chinese.
That Malaysian Chinese tycoon is the richest man in Malaysia, billionaire
Robert Kuok or nicknamed "Sugar King". His son loved Teresa but no fate.
Dont know whether these gossip news was true or invented by reporters, but
that was the news circulating around town during those days. Rest in Peace,
for Teresa has found love in heaven.
