Shortly after Fidel Castro came to power one of his first steps was to
eliminate a free press, including broadcasting. For the past few years
another Latin Dictator has been on the same path, Chavez in Venezuela. Few
people are paying attention to the facts that this history has been
something more than spotty. One of the central programs of Allende in Chile
was the same thing. A program of decrees outlawing a free press and closing
down broadcasting stations that opposed his actions. (Rule by decree)

Similarly we can see in Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Ecuador the same
programs. Seizing opposition newspapers and broadcast stations and closing
them down. Ortega is a close associate of Chavez, as is Morales, and Correa.
Zelaya of Honduras also was in the process of issuing DECREES to close down
all voices that opposed his rule and attempt to become dictator for life.

Still we have folks that claim these are good examples of democracy.
They'd like those of us who disagree to be silenced too.

This need to silence opposition comes with socialism.
