Historical debt and history-assigned duty [Part V]

Our team arrived at Kengtung, Monghpyak, Tachilek and Monghsat areas in the
first week of April to transport the gifts including foodstuff, presented by
the people to Myanmar soldiers discharging national defence duties at remote
border areas at the risk of their lives, to forward military camps. As I got an
opportunity to visit livestock breeding, seasonal and perennial crops
cultivation, industries and other enterprises which are being carried out in
Mongyun and Monghsat areas with the leadership of Wa national race leaders
during my trip, I have already presented some of my personal experiences in the
article.
Of the endeavours being made by national race armed groups with might and main
to develop their regions and their people on the proper development trend, I
would like to continue to present about the livestock breeding and industrial
enterprises carried out by Wa leaders at the surrounding areas of Tachilek and
Kengtung regions.

On a 15-acre plot near Pahsat village, Tachilek Township, 16,000 chickens are
been raised and the layers which no longer meet the set standard are being sold
for meat. More chicks are being added to the farm to maintain the fowl
population. The farm is producing 12,000 eggs daily and earning an annual
profit of nearly K 20 million. In the past, the farm had to rely on Thailand
for feedstuff supply. Now Thai feedstuff has been substituted with
locally-grown corn and powdered dry fish transported from Mandalay. Thus, the
farm is about to make more profits.
Over 8,400 turtles 80,000 perch, 170,000 Ngakhu (a kind of ca fish) are being
raised in the ponds located together with the chicker farm in a large single
stretch of land. Thus, the aquatic and chicken farms will surely contribute to
ensuring regional fish and meat sufficiency. We felt much delighted to see the
large Mine-zin pig farm near Kengtung. The 1,012-acre farm of international
standard has a pig raising compound, a livestock breeding centre, separate
accommodations for male and female pigs, a reproduction sector, feedstuff
warehouses, a laboratory, insecticide areas, staff quarters, a messing hall, a
briefing hall, a helicopter pad, a weighing hall, an office building and
feedstuff processing machines. The farm's current annual production capacity is
about 3,000 viss of pork. The farm is distributing pedigree pigs and piggies to
breeders in Kengtung, Mongla, Pansan, Monghpyak and Tachilek townships.
The scenes of uplifting the living standards of local national people with high
acceleration on the proper development trend based on stable investments and
the profits from the developing enterprises are undeniable objective conditions
of proportionate progress of all the areas of the Union of Myanmar.
In reality, building a new era and materializing a new system constitutes
opening a new chapter of history. Thus, we do not need to mention how important
to building a new nation. I believe that the nation's experiences throughout
the successive periods of history are the best lessons we have ever learnt in
implementing the present task of building a new nation.
Natural features of land, water and hills of Myanmar, the lineage and
traditions and culture of national people are foundations for the changing new
nation In addition to these particulars, the back ground factors and incidents
of the nation's political history and the lessons we have learnt from these
factors and incidents will also add extra vigour to endeavours for emergence of
a newer nation.
In general, our history seems plain. But when it is studied thoroughly, it can
be seer complex with instigations coming from al angles and the problem of
narcotic drug was one of them. But the significant thing is that whenever the
nation faces a terrible situation, the Tatmadaw always takes the forefront
position in safeguarding the nation and warding off all the dangers.
If a thorough study is made, the answer to the question 'Why the Tatmadaw has
to take all the duties of State often though it is responsible only for
national security and defence' can be found. The Tatmadaw is much disinclined
to take charge of complex and delicate political situation while discharging
national security and defence duties.
The Tatmadaw is totally against confronting the persons who are stuck in the
political quagmire and the bigots who under the instigation of these persons
can not free themselves from the endless influence of extremism. But if the
Tatmadaw stays idle, the nation will not only lose independence but also fall
into an inferno.

As such situations are totally unacceptable for the Tatmadaw which is formed
with the people's offspring who were born in the nation, it is confronting all
the assaults from outside interferences and disturbances and striving to bring
the best possible situation to the nation. Due to such efforts, the darkness
that had reigned in border areas in the past has been broken with the new rays
of peace and the land that was barren is now blossoming with multi-colour
flowers.
However, if we can study the past events of history. chapter by chapter and
part by part and distinguish the right and wrong and the good and bad portions
from the events to be taken as lessons, the future path will be smooth and
straight for us. There occurred bad consequences due to certain reasons. But we
should not hand them down to the new era and system.
The Tatmadaw government and national races leaders, who have returned to the
legal fold, are ensuring a high standard of living and food, clothing and
shelter conditions and social security for national people who had to live
between the battle fields and poppy fields in remote border areas in the past;
in reality they are serving the people's interest and doing the
history-assigned duty.
Because of their experiences, local people clearly know that the acts of
shouting the slogans such as 'For the prosperity of the national people' and
'Freedom for Shan State', taking refuge in the foreign nation, begging money
for existence, distributing fabrications through periodicals and Internet and
engaging in armed insurgency like a guard dog and trafficking narcotic drugs at
the border will bring nothing good to them.
Today is the time when the Tatmadaw is leading the nation towards the entrance
of building a new nation. All should discard their bad habits of the old eras
and systems and should join hands with the Tatmadaw with full vigour in
marching to the new era and system at this time.
The Tatmadaw has already removed all the obstacles through military and
political means to bring the best possible conditions to the nation and also to
open a new chapter in history; thus, ail the persons who are interested in
politics should realize the Tatmadaw's position to discharge the
history-assigned duty.
