In the 38 Mingalas of Buddha, one of them is, “Kalayna Dhamma Thar
Kisa - Atem Mingla Mottamam ” . The nearest meaning to this is , there
must be time to speak and spread good words and to listen to the good
words, hear them.
Let's welcome the New Year 2010, by speaking and spreading good words,
for new thinking and for new approaches, by listening to or by hearing
to what great people have said to us. Some people spoke to us
directly, some indirectly. But its worth to remember especially at the
time while we are in festive season, with great spirit.
‘ The Great Andrew Martin’ ( not Martin Luther King Jr ) , who was
always glad to be of service to everyone said that when he studied the
world history of human, he found many millions of people have been
killed or be killed because of ‘one idea’, which is called “Freedom.”
As we all know that “Freedom” may be translated , interpreted by many
different people in many different ways , which they never come to
one solid agreement what Freedom is, and what Freedom means. .
In Buddhism, the word ‘Mingala’ was not understood at first, many
different people translated and interpreted in many different ways as
well. But when asked, Buddha, The Enlighten One himself defined it
into 38 different ways, which is called and known as 38 Mingalas. Each
of the 38 Mingalas are right, within their own right , not everybody
can come to agreement , not everybody can come to disagree. Each
Mingala has it own meaning. But none of them infringes or violates
others in any way or in different way. Nobody said they are wrong ,
nobody can say they are wrong either, nobody argue.
I personally take it together with Buddha’s , The Four Noble Truth,
The Eight Fold Noble Path and these 38 Mingalas as “Mhan Thaw Tayar”,
Right Path, or Absolute Truth.
Just because they do not agree, they did not say they were wrong or
did not argue nobody tried to imposed that 38 Mingalas in the Buddhism
on anybody. Let alone to use force an impose on anybody.
Christian said, “ love thy neighbour ”, beautiful words, sweet words.
Who can argue with them. But do they really believe and really love
their neighbours, let alone , the people at far away places , who
cannot be called their neighbours? There are many instances to
give.
By imposing one’s wills on others by force, is that what is called
‘Freedom ’?
Nobody still do not understand what Freedom really is . “Freedom” also
is like those Mingala. There are many interpretation, many
translations by many. But how many interpretations, or translation
there be , nobody know the real meaning of “Freedom”. One single
Mingala became 38 Mingala, 38 meanings , may be more, may be less, I
don’t know.
But very little people know that “ Freedom ” has consequences. What
these consequences are, we do not know , but what we know is as the
Great Andrew Martin had said, “ millions of people have been killed
because of one Great idea, which is called “Freedom.”
Which means that we are killing and being killed, on kill or be
killed basis, for the sake of “Freedom.” We, that is we so called
Human Beings. Other animals are Freer than us, they don’t kill their
own species or other species for the Freedom.
We human thought and said we are higher than the animals, we are
better than the animals. Is that right , is that so, really ? Are we
lower than the animals or higher than the animals in which ways?
When the father blamed his daughter for encouraging Andrew for the
knowledge he obtained, Little Miss pointed out that Andrews being
clever is not because of her, but because of the father who taught
Andrew everything he should know. When Andrews read different books of
knowledge, he has more knowledge and had become as complicated as
others , as complicated as we all are.
The “Freedom” itself is more and more complicated. Because of the “
Freedom ”, the world, in which we live is in terrible mess , which
effect our lives.
We can never be perfect, no matter how much we tried to be. Its been
at least 6,000 years, we are trying to perfect our lives. We tried our
best not to make mistakes.
, yet by not making mistakes, we can not learn our mistakes, to
perfect ourselves. We have to make mistake to learn .
If we don’t make mistakes we don’t learn , The more we learn the more
we will make mistakes. We will never be perfect, we will always be
making mistakes after mistakes as long as we have our own translation
or interpretation to this so called “ Freedom ”.
This translations or interpretations by you should be for you, it
should not be for others. They may have their own translation, and own
interpretation by themselves for themselves. No matter how one
interpret or translate this Freedon, as long as it does not cross the
line of others. As long as one respect others Freedom. As long as one
does not imposed his own freedom on others, as long as one does not
impose one’s will on others in the name of Freedom. This world will
have lesser mess, our lives will have lesser mess and lesser
complication.
Somebody said, that the personality is more than the intelligent. I
don’t know, what that means. Some animals are intelligent, almost
the same as some human or even more than some human. They don’t
impose their will on other animal species, their way of life on other
animal species.
What is “Freedom ” then? Are we human higher than animals? Are the
animals higher than we human ? Are these animals as complicated as
we human are? OR do they not know what the “ Freedom ” is ? What is
the different between the animal Freedom , and Human Freedom.
The way I see it, in the name of Freedom, even the animal do not want
to be caught and be caged. They want to be Free, they resist any
attempt which will take away their Freedom. They protect and defend
their Freedom and their territory , their domain.
Some even give their lives rather then be caged.
We human are the only species, who disturb and disrupt the Freedom of
all beings, including the Freedom or animals.
With his own belief and the way he was built, the Unique Great Andrew
Martin could not even tolerate other Unique as he is . He even
destroyed others possible Unique. Andrew could live for ever, as
immortal. In his own way Andrew made his own choice on his own free
will. to become ordinary human being, who is the subject to life and
death., ‘ impermanence or Annisa’, in Buddhism.

Dear Myanmar Myo Chits Patriots an friends.
According to Buddhist belief, those who cannot hear good words of
others, are those who are far, far away from human society.
According the scriptures, at the time of Buddha arrives those who are
far, far away from human society cannot hear Buddha's teachings.
In my view that includes Jesus Christ and even Mohammed teachings as
well.
There are four floors of hells, one human floor, 6 heaven and 20
floors of Brahmans.
Those who are far, far away from human society means they are at the
bottom hell callad 'Maha Awiizi Ngaye' .
Buddha or Jesus, or Mohammed were from human society, they belonged to
human society, they were human of great knowledge.
Thise who cannot hear the words of great human are those who lost
great oppotunities. They are those who are at the bottom hell called
'Maha Awiizi Ngaye"
They have to wait for another time when new Buddha was born and arrive
into human society. How long that will be nobody knows. it is a long,
long long wait .
We have to believe that, because we are seeing with our own eyes,
there are people who cannot understand any human language, good or
bad.
They don't know what they are doing, Something like "Blasphemy' I
think that is a right word. They are oppose to any good words of
anybody.
I pity them because they surely will ened up in Maha Awiizi Ngaye'.
They will never come out from that They are doomed.
Even Buddha or Jesus or Mohammed could not help every one.
Regards,
Mogyothwar.
Cobbler ,
Are you a true Buddhist, are you a true Christian, or are you a true
Muslim?
Do you have your own courage to tell us which one are you?
I don't need to take refuge to the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha",
Because I am not asking for any kind of refugee status.
I will reap what I sowed. that is Buddhist way. Nobody can get away
from any sin he committed. It has to be paid in full. That is
Buddhism.
That is how I understood.
Are you The Perfect One, are you yourself a Buddha, Jesus or even
Mohammed?
To take refuge in Buddha or Dharma or Sangha is not the words of
Buddha. They may be bogus, thyey may be fakes Buddhist. At the time
there are fakes and bogus Buddhist Monks around. To take refugee in
Buddha , Dharma or Sanga has no meaning. Buddha and his teacxhing
scall Dharma is something but who are Sanghas? They must be the words
of bogus and fake Buddhists monks .
You better check again. In Buddha time one of the devotees was
sitting near Buddha everyday doing nothing but admiring Buddha. One
day Buddha had to tell him off that's was not the right way he
meant .
"Sin no more my son " is not the Buddhist way. Buddhism is not like
that. I think you are confused, what Buddhism and what Christianity
is. You won't get away from it just because some one said sin no
more. You have to pay for what you have done and if you sin some more
you have to pay some more, that is logis. Everybody with brain as
much as in the shrimp head can understand that.
" achieve enlightenment ", you said it very easy. because you think
its is easy. The klife of human being is one of the " Donlabas ", the
most difficult to be of all beings.
You can not see it, because you have cataract inn your eyes. Or you
are the follower of " Daywadutt ", Whatever Buddha did or say you can
see nothing positive.
You need enlightments Cobbler, I am not saying " sin nor more my son
". You need a lot to do to reach that stage.
Regards,
MGT..
Cobbler,
You called yourself , “ Cobbler ”. You must have a good reason to
chose a name like that . Why not. That is your right and you have a
right to chose whatever name you want. Did your Mummy about that?
What did she say ? Did you tell her that was none of he business?
Some times your name says what you are, your name says who you are.
Your name says everything that I should know about you. But that is
not the way I want . Names does not matter, I want to know, how well
you know about the real world the world we live in our real life.
Buddhism is the way of life, relating to real life, its about life.
What is life, real life , what is the truth about life The Four Noble
Truth. How to over come these truth, by way of ,Eight Four Noble
Path, and how to live in real life, survive in real life before you
reach Nirvana, the 38 Mingalas as you well know.
These three are the essence of Buddhism. You can take Buddhism as
guide for politic, guide for economy and guide to social system, you
won’t be doing anything wrong.
Our life is everything to do with politic, economy and social matters.
You may be a Jack of all trades, but master of none. It surely look
that way. When I said you need a lot to do to reach the stage of
enlightenments, you came back with cheap shots.
In other word , we all are ignorant of one thing or the other. There
are many things we do not know.
It would be better , if we could discuss this as a separate subject.
To discuss Dhamma itself some times is itself a Mingala, means
Blessed be the one who discusses Dhamma, occasionally ) It is well
recommended by Buddha Himself, in his 38 Mingalas, saying Kalayna
Dhamma Tharkissa - Atem Mingala Mottamam.
Exchanges views are to be welcomed.
The Noble Advice of the Buddha are, “ Not to do all evil, to cultivate
good, for bearing patience is the highest excellent asceticism, to
speak no insults, to do no harm , to practice restraint ”
This is not the Buddha’s time , not everyone is following Buddha ways.
He said these because he knew what is happening around him. Besides
before he became Buddha , he had done many things good and bad. He was
talking through his experiences.
But as usual your discussions are not without your accusation and
insults, and cheeky or argumentative, you like to argue without
grounds, words to words, but not the facts. That show how very weak ,
you are. You cannot talk without accusing somebody of something.
I am glad to know you call yourself a Buddhist. I trust you also know
Buddhism is not the religion. It is a way of life taught by Gautama
Buddha, how we should live and die.
I want you to know the logical way of Buddhism, the Practical way of
Buddhism .
When Buddha was asked to teach, to share his knowledge , it was meant
to all beings in the universe. Luu, Nat , Byamar and Thuttawas.
Buddha’s teaching can be followed by anyone, any Thuttawa , not
necessarily to be only human. Nobody needs to become Buddhist , or
necessarily to be called Buddhists.
If you are clean, and innocent, your conscience clear, you don’t need
sanctuary, you don’t need a refuge. If you only know the meaning of
these words. You don’t even need to go to a monastery. Your own home
is very much good enough.
You can purify Karma,( actions) but what you have done, have been
done and you can’t get away from it you have to pay in full, not less,
not more. When you read 547 life stories of Buddha what did you see?
If you do not understand my question let me put in another way round .
Not that I am turning round from my evil ways, like you said.
How long it took him to purify his Karmas (actions) ? It took him “
Lay Thinchey and Gabar Ta Thein”. I am nor sure how many years those
were. It seems that you know very well about these things why don’t
you tell us how many years, if you have a calculator.
The story also told us, that Buddha had a big head ache, and also
after he ate the flesh of white piglet he had to die. It was said that
he predicted he would die in three months time after he ate that.
As I have said above, I am not the one for you to put questions, what
Suttra, this and that. You better check with some learned people
against what I have said. They will know, what I am talking about. I
said “ learned people ”, not every Tom , Dick and Harry to ask.
Don’t try and walk on other people’s eyes brows, why not DYI ?
Why asking me questions? What the use of me answering your questions.
You don’t trust me. You don’t believe a word I have said? You said my
understanding was wrong. The best is for you to check with learned
people against what I have said. As long as you don’t approach Fake
and Bogus Buddhists Monks and Buddhists.
Because you could be wrong as well, you could be the one who
understand everything wrong, incorrectly. If you look at yourself
from my position.
Honesty and sincerity to oneself, in a figure of speech, we all are
committing one sin or the other, everyday.
When I said “I will reap what I sowed, that how I understood ”, you
said I understood incorrectly. What is the correct way to understand
that, may I ask, in Buddhism way or Christian way? Or you just
disagreeing with me .
What if I ask you understand SPDC in correct way, you may put the same
question to me saying what is the correct way”?
Are you observing the five precepts yourself, every day, every hour,
every minute, every seconds or every moments?
When I asked the question ,” “ Are you The Perfect One, are you
yourself a Buddha, Jesus or even Mohammed? , Your answer was NO,
which part of my question you were saying NO ? I know you can’t be
Buddha, you can’t be Jesus. You cannot be Mohammed either. By you
saying NO, I take that you admit that you are not The Perfect One,
then why do you expect others to be perfect ?
“ Intoxicants ” could mean anything. “Theyzer, Ayet, Bain, Bin,
Gzaw, Hlawzar. ” in Myanmar. Anybody can be intoxicated in many ways.
Today there are many items more that those. Any one can be intoxicated
by these drugs, anybody can be intoxicated politically, economically,
or socially, ideas and systems . Which intoxication was you talking
about?
I can put the same question to you. What are you intoxicated with,
which one, by who? If you do not understand my question, ask the 10
year old child near you, he/she may be smarter than you are , to help
you to answer my question correctly.
Let me come to this point, when I said, “You better check again. In
Buddha time one of the devotees was sitting near Buddha everyday doing
nothing but admiring Buddha. One day Buddha had to tell him off that's
was not the right way he meant .”
You did not know what I said. You did not know what I emant. That is
your lack of general knowledge in Buddhism . Worse of all you said “
Not true. Tell me where in the Sutras that is said ”. You should not
say it was not true. How did you know it was true or false. Because
your question which followed was to tell you where in the Suttra that
said.”
There you are admitting that you don’t know about that devotee at
all. Out of mercy and pity, passion and loving kindness I will tell
you this much , that devotee was nobody else but one certain Yahan
Gyi , or one of the senior monks.
Buddha was still living and there was this Yahan Gyi . Now over 2500
years , Buddha has gone. How many Yahan Gyis are there today in every
Buddhist Monastery who act and behave like that Yahan Gyi, in Buddha’s
time. You don’t know, I don’t know but we can guess, through their
actions, behaviours . Who will tell them off?
Just wait a minute, why do I have to tell you everything. Why don’t
you find out by yourself and for yourself eh? I am not going to make
that easy for you my man. I will say you better seek help from learned
people and find out by yourself, OK? There may be other versions.
Myanmar saying is , “ Zagar De Ga Zarti Pya ”. You used words such
intoxicate, alcohol . You must be living on them everyday, familiar
with them, in touch with them.
You may be comparing others with you, to justify yourself.
In Buddhism, There is no such thing as ,“ you are forgiven , go, sin
no more, my son”.
Or, “somebody will take your place and die for you so that you can sin
freely and sin more ”. You don’t accept it. You said I am not
Buddhist, but you are the Buddhist. So be it.
The real learned persons know that not only the human, there are Nat
Devas and Byamar as well. In a way , it depends on the stage of
human, are they Nat Dava or Byamar. Whenever Buddha spoke, at the end
of his speech not many have had achieved enlightenment, only a few.
Even among the realms of Nat Davas, and Byamars.
According to your translation “ human is the best form to achieve
enlightenment . How best is the best ? How best do you use that best
human form. During his long years teaching, Buddha left behind without
many who had no idea what he was talking about. Who were
enlightened.
Good and bad only depends on oneself. Yet, what good for one may be
bad for other. So that is why .our elders said, “ Hlay Nan Dah Htit -
Ma Mhat Ne ”, use your common sense. That is where your words, “ human
is the BEST form to achieve enlightenment, don't you? ” fits in. You
may be a human, but if you have no common sense. You are nothing. You
are punching bag.
I don’t think you did get my meaning especially when I referred you to
“ Daywadutt ” . Do you know who he was ? Do you also know that
“Daywadutt” never reached Buddha, he dropped dead on the steps on his
way to reach him Buddha? Buddha the Awoken One, who preached loving
kindness, did not even bother to get up to help Daywadutt. Buddha
left him to his fate. Because that was his destiny .
I am not a Buddhist scroll reader which I never learned to read. I
never read Tipidika let alone to learned it by heart. I understand a
little bit of Buddhism from already translated from Pali to Myanmar.
Whatever little bit I understand are not wrong either.
My man, I am blunt very blunt, straight. I use my own words, the
common language which common people with common sense can understand.
They may not be smooth and gentle, kind or sentimental. , Some people
are born with eyes which can only see negative things, everything
negative, like you for instance.
Whether I am a Buddhist or not is not the question. You know nothing
about me either. So your first word from you about me, will be the
first lie about me. Have you thought of that? To say something like
you, you are the kind of person, you will sell your own mother for
your profit, and for your benefit. You will swear that yo0ur own
mother is your wife, to make others believe you . Let alone others
mothers , a country and the people of that country you are trying to
sell.
You will support, murderers, rapists, looters, liars and deceivers,
because you yourself is one of them and you think others are like you.
You have seen your step fathers who are bald faced liars and
deceivers. You association with them, is obvious, you conspire with
them , against my country, against my people is apparent .
You want to talk about evil way? Who are the evils?
When you wake up in the mornings, make sure to look yourself in the
mirror. If you don’t see your image, consider you are gone. You won’t
be able to tell us which realm of hell you are in.
This is the importance word, everything is impermanence. Buddha was
right with his views on the world over 2500 years ago. The world has
been changed from good to bad, from bad to worse. If Buddha was live,
what would he say, what would he do.
When he was alive, some people tried to kill him , tried to shame him
without success. Because the truth is the truth.
For “Azardathutt” the killer of own father , Daywadutt was better
teacher than Buddha. But Azardathut accepted the truth before
Daywadutt. He had time to listen to Buddha , which Daywadutt did not
have.
Positives are positives, negatives are negatives, You cannot turn
positive into negative, and the negative into positive They are as
they are . If you look at positives things as they are you won’t see
them as negative, the same ism for, negatives. It depends what are you
looking at.
You mother is your mother, no matter how you look at her, no matter
how you wish your mother to be, she is what she is. Do you know any
way to purify her?
You seem to know everything, are you sure whatever you know are the
right things?
“ Have the courage to be a true Buddhist, not a pretend one.” That’s
a nice one I must say. That was why I asked you the question " are you
a true Budhist, you answered that you are a Buddhist, true or not you
did not specified.
My next question will be what is a true Buddhist, true Christian, true
Muslims?
