"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father (God),
but by me".
Jeeshu bolechhen : " sotto, sotto-i aami tomaader bolitechhi, je aamaar
bakkyo sune ebong Jini (Isshawr) aamaake patthaaiyaachhen TaaNhaate bisshaas

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on

Mreetyur saaddhi chhilo naa je se Isshawrer putro Jeeshu Khristoke taar

"Er pawre tini aeki somoye paaNchshoro beshi bhaaider dekhaa diyechhilen". 1
Corinthians 15:6 "After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren
at one time"
"Kintu Isshawr mreetyur jawntronaa theke mukto kore taaNke jeebito kore

"Porishraanto o varaakraanto lokeraa, tomraa sawkole aamaar nikawte eso,
aami tomaader bishraam dibo | aamaar jowaal tomraa tulyaa lawo o aamaar
kaachhe shikkha grohon kawro, kaaron aami bineeto o nawmrochitto ; ebong
tomraa aapnaader praane bishraam paibe | Karon aamaar jowaal sawhoje

o aamaaey awnontojeebon daan kawraar jonno aapnaake aamaar kreetognawtaa
jaanaai. Aamaar ei praarthonaati shune taar uttor deowaar jonno aapnaake
dhonnobaad dii . Amen.
[Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner, I genuinely repent of my sins and
ask for your forgiveness . And Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you died on
the cross for my sin. I now respond to your call to follow you. I receive
you as my Lord and Saviour, and make a commitment of my life to you. With
your help I choose to serve and obey you. Please make me the person you want

Actually, it was the Tamil and Malayalam links on the same page that
got my attention.
Looking over the Tamil version, I'm reminded of how odd Tamil
spellings might seem to one who's learning Tamil. For example, Mathew
is spelt Mat-they-yu, Jesus Christ is spelt Iyesu (but pronounced
Yesu) Kiristu, David is Thaaveed and God is Thevan.
Also, it's interesting to to see how they've accomplished the
translation of difficult-to-translate pieces; they've just changed
them to a more translatable form before translating. For example, John
1:1 has been split into 3 sentences, the first of the 3 being "In the
beginning was the word". "In the beginning" was changed to "before the
world began" and translated to "ulagam aarambikkum munbe".

Not being knowledgeable in Tamil, I am not able to check this out. But I
believe, the essence of your comment is generally true. As regard the
biblical names, the Bible translaters may have attempted to give these
names a "tamilize" or "bengalize" "flavour" ( or whatever one's native
tongue may be). As far as the translation of the biblical text is
concerned, I note the same thing done with my mother tongue, Bengali, as
it has been done with Tamil. Of course, the general idea is: to make the
Bible texts easily understandable to the native speakers. However, there
might be a slight danger involved in this : the translator, while
attempting to make a specific text more comprehensible to the relevent
speakers of the language, may "add his own personal colour" to the
language he is translating into and thereby, ever so slighly, differ
from what the original author of the Bible text in question, under the
divine inspiration, intended to say. Since it is not always possible to
check the correctness of the translation by way of examining the
original texts, because of our lack of knowledge of the original
language in which the said text was written --namely; either in Hebrew
or Aramic or Greek, we would all do well to read any Bible text in
English first, which we all understand, and partcularly,the St. James
Version, along with the translation in your own language. In this way,
you would be better able to appreciate the "real" meaning of the text
inspite of the variations in the translation.
