Nochiketha is considered a younger, lighter version/pretender to the
throne of Suman Chatterjee.

I thought all these lines are from a song by Anjan
Dutta who always says Suman is his teacher.
Quite right. They are by Anjan Datta.

Nachiketa says something very enigmatic in the documentary. He says:
"Suman-da -- Suman-da ekTa onyo byapar | Onar sombondhe kichhu bola
jabe na |"
Bojho :-)

By the way, among the new ones (besides Shumon),
I think Shilajit is the most eco-oriented new age
type. There seems to be some Pink Floyd influence
(crowd murmer at the starting, slogan type chorus,
etc.) in his work.

"Onukoron" (mimesis) and "Honukoron" (to ape) are two different things.
The former is natural and we all do it. People can stand tall only because
they stand on the shoulders of giants. There is nothing to be ashamed of in
learning from masters. THat is how the torch is passed on from generation
to generation and across cultures.
As Pete Seger himself has written and sung:
"And when these fingers
Can strum no longer,
Give your guitar
To new arms younger ...."
Many people perhas do not know that Pete Seeger gave away his old guitar
to Suman Chattopadhyay as a token of appreciation (you can find out about
this if you watch Sudipto's documentary).
Which word in the second sentence was English?
Are you referring to "gublet"?
>Suman,Anjan,Nachiketa,Shilajit -- eder protyeker gaan-er modhye

^^^^^^^
I can't discern the slightest influence of what is called "country"
music on the music of Suman Chattopadhyay. What you probably mean
is what is called in the USA "folk" music, which is quite different
from what goes by the name of "country" music.
Suman has borrowed a lot, learnt a lot and assimilated a lot from
the urban folk music of the West. He belongs to the tradition of
Phil Ochs, Woody and Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Charlie King and
Si Kahn, and you can also feel the influence of the blues in his
music.
