DIDI TAKES DIG AT CBI QUOTING SC REMARK

Kolkata - Even as the West Bengal Opposition raised its
pitch for a CBI inquiry into the Saradha chit fund scam,
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday put to use a
damaging apex court remark against the Central
investigation agency and sought a public opinion on
whether the aam admi really thought that CBI was a “caged
parrot speaking its master’s voice” or not.

Banerjee threw the pinching poser on the Net asking her
readers to “please see what the Hon’ble Supreme Court has
said. CBI has become caged parrot speaking in its
master’s voice. What do you think? Opinion Please.”

The Supreme Court had earlier made the damaging remark on
CBI’s second affidavit alleging that Law Ministry and
some officials of the PMO and Coal Ministry had made
certain changes in the agency’s report on coal block
allocation.

The Chief Minister’s statement comes at a time when the
Calcutta High Court is hearing a bunch of public interest
litigations demanding CBI probe into the Saradha the
multi-crore chit fund scam.

The hearing in Calcutta High Court was deferred till May
14. Already under pressure to explain the alleged links
between the State’s top ruling party politicians and
ponzy swindler Sudipto Sen, the Chief Minister’s comment
is aimed at blunting the Opposition attack, experts felt.

The Opposition has repeatedly asked as to why the
Government had not yet filed an FIR in the biggest ever
financial scam in the State involving about Rs 20,000
crore.
