The Bangladesh market will be handled by Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd,
headquartered in Singapore.
As with other markets in this region, the dealership in Bangladesh will have a
modern Porsche Centre, complete with a well-equipped service centre by April
2005.
By end of the current fiscal year the Stuttgart-based automobile manufacturer
plans to sell more than 2,000 vehicles in the Asia Pacific region excluding
Australia and Japan.

Torture of wife by DU teacher condemned

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) yesterday condemned the incident of torture
of a woman for dowry by her husband, says a press release.
Mahila Parishad in a statement said Prof Kazi Salamat Ullah, a teacher of
Dhaka University, tortured his wife Ainun Nahar as she refused pay dowry of
Tk 20 lakh.
Ainun Nahar filed a case with Ramna Police Station under Women and Children
Repression Prevention Act in this regard on November 6.
Prof Salamat Ullah have been demanding dowry of Tk 20 lakh for the last two
years from his wife Ainun Nahar and used to torture her physically for her
refusal, BMP statement said.
On the day of incident, he beat his wife with stick and tried to strangle
her, the statement added.
