If you think that you do not know 'the cause of his death
in the prison', then why assert, 'He mysteriously died in
prison--' ? Did someone tell you that his death was
mysterious ? Something cannot be mysterious just because
you don't know about it.
Are you implying a foul-play when
you write --'--Geneva Convention applied to him for his safety
in the prison ' ?

You had exactly 26 years to solve the mystery. Where
were you ? Fazlul Kader Chowdhury left behind two
very prominent and powerful sons. One was a Minister
of the Republic for sometime, and both are members
of the present Parliament. Don't you think these sons have
a little more concern about their father's death than
their father's sympathizers ? These sons are not great lovers of
Sk Mujib or AL or of the period 1972-75 ! Their
hatred for all of these ( SMR/AL/1972-75) are just
too well known --and far far greater than many we see
in the net !
So, why did'nt they raise the question about 'mysterious
death' ? They did not because it is more than
likely that FK Chowdhury died a natural death.

As for Geneva convention, Mohammad Bari has already pointed
out that it did not apply in his case. As far as I recall,
he was arrested under the Collaborators Order, and was
'a collaborator'--and not a 'prisoner of war'.

And finally, the name of the person we are talking
about is Fazlul Kader Chowdhury, not Fazal Kader Chowdhury !
Therefore, I am taking the liberty to change the header
accordingly.

Best wishes,
Bilayet Hossain.

Reply to Bilayet Hossain:

For my limited knowledge in English something not understood is the
mystery. I don't know and I do not understand the death of FK
Chowdhury, therefore, for me it is a mystery. I want to
know the truth, so posted the article to know the truth.
If you tell what you know, I'll come to know what you know.
Even you tell the truth today or Chowdhury's sons tell the
truth today, someone may ask you after 10 years again.

If your children did not ask you yet why you are a fanatic
Awami Leaguer, does not mean that they will not ask you
that after 26 years.

My father is a fanatic Awami Leaguer like you, and was
involved in both the Hannan and Zia's speech in March
1971 from Kalurghat Radio station. I never asked him
about it. Last month, I wrote him a letter and asked
him about the stories of Kalurghat Radio station.
I wrote him, 'it is kind of mystery to me.'
Well, he did not write me back as follows:
'why did you not ask me last 26 years about it.'
He did not spend time mocking my letter and my choice
of the word 'mystery'.
Instead, he sent me photo copies of his diary and the articles that
he published in the newspapers

I have decided to write my father in my next letter why he
blindly loves 'Bangabandhu' and Awami Leauge. Although my letter may
contain sarcasm ( as I am his spoiled son !), I know, my father will
sincerely write pages after pages good things about 'Bangabandhhu'
and Awami League. I also know my father will not mock the sarcasm of
my letter.

Dear Bilayet Uncle, have you noticed that you have turned
old, and most of the people on the internet are like your
children. We SCB children of yours write to know things
from our old uncles. We are children, so we act childish =(.
We add lot of sarcasm, twist everything ;)

Have you taken your chidren to Ice skating yet? You will see
all they are trying to do is to twist and twist =)
But did you try to twist in the middle of the ice rink :<)
See, all the chidren in the ice rink will start
laughing at you.

Many days you had spent time in SCB, you have become an
SCB Uncle to some of us, and to some people as great Awami-Uncle.
Some people love you for your blind love for Awami League, some
people hate you for the same cause.

We SCB children come and go, twist and twist everyting!

But, you as a great Uncle and a Phd holder
should be noble, sincere, cool, nice, ...

You see, all we children are changing for better all the time,
we expect something from our uncle too!!!

Your answer seems to me you are pretty angry, and you
are screaming to me by saying 'why did you ask?'
(Instructor of Police Academy style).
You see, I am turning into a 'bleeding heart liberal',
I belive in the freedom of expression, and don't have
strength to scream back to you.
Moreover, this year I made a New Year's resolution of not
screaming in the internet again =)

So dear Bilayet Mama, I'll never ask about F K Chowdhury again =(

Just because you don't know the cause of death, does not make it a
mystery. He died of heart attack (should have been stoned to death). I
have heard his son Salaudding Quader Chowdhury brag about how they
literally slaughtered hindus in 1971.

On a related note, I really do not give a damn whether someone is
pro-Awami Leaguer or anti-awami leaguer, as Bangladeshis

a) every single war criminal should be tried, and if convicted hanged.
b) Pakistan has to pay for restitution to the victims of 1971.

Ironically, neither Awami League or BNP want to talk about it.

I was At Guddu Thermal Power Station where a Pakistani telecommunication
engieer joined on duty. He arrived there after being released from Dacca jail
when Pakistani prisners of war were freed. He stated that he was lodged in the
Dacca jail cell close to the sell where Mr. Fazlul Qader Chowdhry was lodged.
According to his statement: Mr Choudry was occasionally beaten in jail by jail
police as his cries could be heard in his jail cell. One day as Mr chowdry was
being beaten in his cell , he was shouting that Mujeeb will pay for his crimes.
The beatiing then continued forcefully. Mr Chowdhry's head was being repeatedly
smashed against the jail cell wall till his moaning subsided . He later learnt
that Mr. Fazlul Qader Chowdry died during torture that last day .
The walls of jaol cell of Mr. Chowdry were left splatterred red with the blood
that oozed out the smashed skull of Mr Fazlul Qader Chowdry. This Pakistani
(prisoner of war) seemed sypathetic to Begalis and cited some atrocities by a
Pakistani military captain. He also cited that two bengali girls came to see
him in jail and brought some gifs for him and passed on Rs100 bill enclosed in
a partially filled of Tibet-tooth paste case. These were the girls who worked
in his telecommunication office and this telcommunication engineer and his West
Pakistani boss protected these girls on an occasion when the Pakistani Military
captain wanted to pick them up for interogation. The Pakistani boss stood
between the captain and the girls and dared challenge that the captain can
arrest the girls only over his dead body. He said that the girls being under
his charge were like his daughters. The captain alongwith his soldiers walked
away at this confrontation and thus the girls were saved. These two brave
Bengalee girls came to vist him in Dacca jail.

The event relating to the death of Mr. Fazalul Qader Chowdry is part of a
larger tragedy. While we must find out what happened to this man known as
gahddar to some and as a patriot by others, the death of Mr. Qader Chowdry
reminds us the need to forget and forgive to heal a deep wound that was
inlicted on the body and soul of not only Bangladesh but Pakistan also. God
forgive us all. God bless the souls of those who laid down their lives for the
cause they believed in at that time on both sides.

Perhaps you have missed the introduction of the original post by
Sohel Q Khan. Here is the very first sentence he wrote about
Fazl(-ul) Kader Chowdhury:

"Fazal Kader Chowdhury, a prominent Muslim Leaguer, opposed the
creation of Bangladesh and took part in oppression and killing
of Bengalis particularly Hindus during the time of liberation
war in 1971."

Any comment?
