I congratulate the ATN Bangla team on winning this year's Emmy Awards for their
documentary 'Amrao Pari'. This is indeed a great day for the budding film and
documentary makers of our country. Last year, Tareque Mashud's 'Matir Moyna'
received the Cannes Film Festival prize. I am sure there will be more such
prestigious awards in the future and I wish our talented filmmakers all the
best.
Finally, I wish the brave and courageous boy from Haziganj, Abul Khair, gets
his share of the acknowledgement too.

Sisters acid attacked in Gazipur
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Gazipur, November 25
Two sisters sustained burn injury when miscreants threw acid on them at
village Purba Vurulia under sadar upazila in Gazipur Wednesday night.
The victims, identified as Rashida Begum, 40, and Minara Begum, 35, were
admitted to Gazipur Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
Local sources said the victims went out of their house at about 11.30pm on
Wednesday when miscreants threw acid on them.
Minara sustained serious burn injury in the face and body and Rashida in
the hands. Local people took the victims to Gazipur Sadar Hospital.
Rashida filed a complained with the Joydebpur police against six persons.
