Dear readers,
I found this article in 26/9/1993's "The Daily Yomiuri" Newspaper.
I an not recieving any article in my site. So don't expect any answer.
If you want me to read your reply, please send me a copy personbally.
I wonder a few things:
1) Since othe muslim nations have already changed this law as this article
says, that means surely they think that the delay technique is correct.
2) Muslims call themselves brother and cry over Bosnia. Do they similarly
feel bad about Indian women? Why don't they help Indian Goverment
implement the law regarding Islam, which they had already implemented.
3)In Islam, husband has to consult before bringing home another women.
This doesnot seem to be the case In India. This law can easily be tackled
by bringing home another women before really marring her to test if the
wife allows it. If she allow, fine. Or else divorce her and then marry the
other women.
Isn't it really funny.
Muslims in India split over divorce law
--TIM MCGIRK
in New Delhi
"TALAQ, talaq, talaq" Wheater said in rage, drunkness, or a passing fit of
pique over a badly cooked meal, an Indian Muslim husband can divorce his
wife by simply uttering "I divorce thee" three times in a row.
This practice, dating back to the Mogul conquerors, is now being chalanged
by Muslim women, jurist and scholars who complain that while India may be
world's largest democracy, its treatment of Muslim women lags behind
behind other Islamic countries in the Middle East and Asea. India has more
than 120 million Muslims.
The reformers' attempts to make it more difficult for a husband to banish
his wife suffered a blow last week when the All-INDIA Muslim Personal Law
Board of prominant theologians upheld the old traditions.
"This has lead to lot of misery," said Shahed Subhani, a legal advisor for
the All-INDIA Muslim Women's Organisation, which is campaining to make
divorce law more cognisant of women's rights. "Suppose a wife makes a
minor mistake and the husband says "TALAQ, talaq". That third "talak",
unsaid, hangs over her like a sword. Any time she can be divorced.
Although the prophet Mohamad said that, "divorse was worst of all permited
things", it is widely practised among the Indian Muslim comunity. Feminist
cite the case of Shahida Begum,22,with 3 children, who dared to protest
when her husband home another women. He shouted "TALAQ, talaq, talaq", and
Sahida and her young children were cast out for evr from their home in
Delhi's old walled City.
It can also be done through post. Shahnaz Ahmed,28, who had been married
for seven years, recieved a cavalier letter from her husband, away in
Calcutta, with nothing butthe three dreaded words. Other women are often
divorced soon after the wedding because their gready husband is not
satisfied with the dowry.
Starting with Egypt in 1929, many Muslim countries re-interpreted the
Koran and the Islamic law code so thatthe divorce process was streched
out from one angry breath to atleast 3 month and 13 days, giving the
husband time to reconsidert any hasty split. After saying the first
"talak" which in udru means to untether - husband must let a month pass
during which he must share his home and his meals with his wife but he
cannot have sex with her. He must wait until his wife's mensural cycle is
finished, to account for her possible mood swings, before pronouncing the
"talak" again. And so it goes for three months. After seperation, the
women cannot claim alimony foir herself, but instead recieves maintenance
for her children.
Zeenat Ali, An Islamic Historian in Bombay, said :"The Prophet Mohamad
wanted eqaulity for women. But when Islam went from the desert to the
palaces, men put in certauin loopholes."
The prstice of Instant divorce among Muslims was enshrined in the judicial
code of British Privy Council in 1939. Now it can be only be chalanged by
the Supreme Court or the parliament, according to taheer Mahmood, dean of
Law at Delhi University. "The political parties are'nt interested. They
believe they might lose votes bu angering the Muslim clergymen," he said.
That leaves only the supreme Court. But with Hindu and Muslim tensions
running high, the judiciary is reluctant to take any decision that might
enrage Muslim Fundamentalist.

2. What do you want muslim nations to do? Declare war on India?
Yes, it's really funny. Even funnier than your facade of appearing as
an objective bystander.

The nations of PIMPs can, at least, stop giving moral and material support to
the Indian Muslims so that we, the patriotic Hindus, can civilize them and get
them into the mainstream of human society. Currently they are living in the
time of the pedophilic prophet Mohammed (Piss Be Upon Him - PUBH). They openly
indulge in the pedophilic practices which are allowed by the Islamic law.
