A lot of older people in Estonia are a bit nostalgic about some
aspects of Soviet life - feel of security in everyday life at first,
then relations between individuals. I think there are more such
feelings in Russia coz for us it was also freedom, independence, feel
of security for a future of nation.

Well I think there is much more bread and freedom in both Estonia and

existence of a State to provide Security and Safety Net: let people play
game but make sure if House wins people do not have to take their pants

efficient countries in the world in cost/benefit ratio.

I am not a fan of oligarchs but make exception for Abramovich - apart
from the fact that I respect his difficult - before oligarchy biography,
I respect what he did when securing his law immunity before he struck a
deal with Putin: while being a governor of Chukotka he fixed schools,
hospitals and created jobs - moving Chukotka from the bottom of 89
regions ratings to top ten. I don't care what was his motives I care
that he raised the region.
It was the only criminal case on my memory when governor was accused of
illegally contributing personal money to region's budget, not stealing
from it.

остальным англофилам, которые даже Мицубиси - традиционно русское
произношение, теперь произносят, как Мицубишы

It is quite interesting to observe the way the French treat American
tourists. Americans always complain that the French are "snooty" and
that if you try to speak English to shopkeepers in France, they will
pretend that they don't understand a word.
What I do is always start the conversation by speaking my broken
French to them. When they see that I am making my best effort, they
smile and happily switch to English themselves, and we always part
best friends.
